Front felt undercarriage

Anyone know the OEM part number for the front felt undercarriage protector ? I have a 2008 E90 M3.

I bought the car used and noticed some wear on the felt but it was intact. Today looked under and saw this. I can't remember scraping the bottom so I guess it fell off in the last 2000 miles I've owned the car.

I saw the post where someone replaced and sent ECS and email for their part number and price.

looks like you need #20, and maybe Left and Right #23. Mine is getting beat up from scraps too. Glad parts are kinda cheap. GL.

Be careful driving at speed until you replace it. The part behind the missing area is flexible and can act like a sail, especially at freeway speeds. As it scoops in more air, it gets pressed down, the sides weaken and eventually rip, and soon you could be scraping up all the road debris with it... ask me how I know If you can't replace it soon, I would recommend thinking about taking it off, otherwise it will probably break at the most inopportune time. And you can't really duct tape it back together as a temporary fix.

Part #20 in the diagram should come with two of #24 (Bowden cables) and two of #25 (rubber strips) already attached.

I had this replaced on mine.

I bought the dealer's demo and that part had a big gash in it like yours. They replaced it free of charge but said it was normally like $200 piece of plastic.

so now I'm even more REALLY careful when I pull into parking spots

yikes! looks like you're going to need more than the felt piece replaced.

Helps direct and smooth airflow under the car for high speed driving. VWs been using them for a while now as well and you can feel the difference over about 80 and it's very noticeable over 100.

Does part 25 - the two rubber strips that go on the lip of the underhood shield - come with the shield or does it need to be ordered separately? One of them fell off my car (but it was hanging off the bottom so I recovered it). When I took it to the Paris dealer they glued it to the bottom outside lip of the underhood shield instead of back on the inside. I am figuring on pickup up a shield to replace mine eventually if it comes with the strips as well.

Yea it came with... I just looked at the pictures in my thread.

Maybe ask just in case, the undercarriage marred like that really bugged me bad. I meant to also say, you pretty much have to take off the sides to take off the middle piece, so it might be worth it to just order all three pieces. It is pretty easy to install, just unbolt all the screws on the bottom of the bumper and some of the ones in the wheel wells, then un-hook the "part number 24" and re-install. Lining up the screws in the tabs (screw receivers) was the hardest part because they kind of move on you. You will understand when you see it. I didn't jack up the front end to do this also.

Those are the prices off RealOEM.com, but I'm sure they can get him a comparable quote also. Tischer is always good too, as I have order parts for the 335i from there.

Count me in for needed a replacement panel. Hit something on the highway today and it ripped the plastic piece apart. Also, damaged the "underfloor coating center", item 22 below...

Just ordered replacement parts from GetBMWParts.com. Luckily, it looks very easy to replace them both.
