Any use for a Bav Tech Tool for M3?
I just sold my 335i and bought an M3, and I'm deciding whether to keep the bav tech tool or not. Is there a good reason to keep it, considering I have no performance mods planned for the car?

I thought it was 5, but you could be right. I have only used 1 VIN allocation.

I thought the only things it will work on the M are lights, sunroof etc. Might be useful for deleting CELs and their likes should you want to experiment with exhausts...
So you got an M3, I see - congratulations! What are your impressions so far?

Don't know what that tool does, but I'm seeing that it can read and clear codes, so here's a related question: What's the cheapest value (cheapest that does the job well, not least expensive) for such a tool? Read it's always nice to have one around, especially on a BMW. My car is completely stock (and will stay that way), and haven't had any issues/CELs. With potential problems like the idle valve and similar, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have one around. And if possible, what functions those tools have, and purchase info. Finally, is there a place where to interpret codes? They have little meaning without translation. Thanks gang.

I'm not sure how much the tool has evolved in the past couple of years, so I'm not sure what specific capabilities it has picked up on the way - but say if I wanted to install a x-pipe, I think I'd pick up the tool just because it can erase those pesky CELs... I apologize for any confusion - but if you have the tool why not experiment with it?

The Bavarian Technic Scan / Code Reset Tool is a necessity for the N54 guys that are modding.
It might be a great tool for the m3 guys as well. Let me check to see the compatibility real quick! |
