ED Itinerary
My boyfriend and I are picking up my car at the end of Sept, so I wanted to share my itinerary for those that are maybe looking for ideas. If anyone is planning on also being in Munich during Oktoberfest, if you haven't booked your hotels I would advise to book ASAP. The prices are outrageous.
Day 1: Arrive in Munich early morning. We don't pick up the car until day 2, so we are renting a car for day 1 and visiting: - Dachau Concentration Camp - English Gardens - Marienplatz - Hofbrauhaus Day 2: Returning the car to the aiport and then getting a ride from Rolf to the Welt to pickup my car (here is info on Rolf - http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=108661) - Welt Tour - Neuschwanstein Castle in Hohenschwangau Day 3: Staying in Baden-Baden for the hot springs and wine tasting. Day 4: in Rust for Europa Park Day 5: in Frankfurt to see the Main Towers and Cider Towers, drive to Catherdral of Cologne Day 6: Drive to Nurburg for Nurburgring. Day 7: Hamburg for: - Minature Wunderland - Fish Market - Reeperbahn Day 8: Wolfsburg for the VW Autostadt Day 9: Berlin for: - Berlin Wall - Brandenburg Gate - Holocaust Memorial - Tiergarten - Potsdamer Platz Day 10: Drive through Leipzig and Bayreuth to Burg Rabienstein, a castle hotel with lots of cool things to do. There are different events planned every night, but the night we are staying has a wild boar roast and an instrumental concert in the limestone caverns next door. Day 11: Head to Erding for Galaxy Waterpark, which has the fastest waterslide in the world! Day 12: Munich all day for Oktoberest Day 13: Turn in car and head back to the US |

Looks great! If Dachau is the only stop outside of Munich, you really don't have to rent a car. The transport network is great, and the rest of the Munich sites can easily be done along with Dachau. Enjoy the trip!

Yes, defintely a lot of research was involved! We've gone to tons of websites and just made a list of all of the places. Unfortunately due to time constraints we still can't see everything that we wanted to, but we're getting almost everything. The waterpark we happened to see on a Travel Channel show, right as we were in the process of planning, so the timing was great to add it on to the trip.

Great planning.
I did an ED-like trip earlier this year (we Canadians do not get an ED discount) and it was just amazing. I didn't visit as many places but your itinerary sounds doable. You'll be headed one place after another but if you're excited and have energy, it looks like a great opportunity. I think the only problem is.... it'll be so great, you'll want to do it again soon.

You're going to love it. Your day two is going to be VERY tight. The Welt bw pick up, factory tour, museum, and just looking around the Welt itself is a whole day affair. And then the castle plus the drive? You might want to think twice about that. Don't try to squeeze too many things in one day bc you'll find yourself in a hurry and not be able to really enjoy it. Besides that, it's awesome. You guys are really going to enjoy it. Have fun.
