Anyone know the TIS procedure for pad replacement and squeezing caliper?

I had to swap pads (ST40 caliper) and it made it REALLY easy considering I had to get a custom pad which was slightly too thick. I had to get the pistons all the way in. It would have been a MASSIVE PIA without the tool.

I'll get a video up sometime.

For the ST60 caliper, I don't think this tool will compress all 6 pistions. So I'll try to just spread the pads a tad, pop them out, take an old brake pad, slide them in, fully compress the pistons, take them out and put the new pads in.

Also, really good for trying to change somewhat warm pads...don't have to burn your fingers.

Usually, you'd want to use a piston tool but the front calipers are different from any other sliding caliper I've seen. I think this tool could be useful but it won't compress the pistion so the caliper can clear the bracket.

Maybe this is the ticket.
C clamp method (when I use it) works fine for me. bigjae's tool won't work on OEM brakes since the caliper is one piece with no removeable bridge.

The method I usually use is to just pull the caliper toward the outside. It's not instantaneous but it works. I can get full compression both ways.

Actually, I think the spreader tool can compress the piston. It won't help you to get the caliper to clear the bracket so you still need the c-clamp or just pull on the bridge like a man.

Can you measure the plate size on your tool? I wonder if it will come in contact with all 3 pistons of the st60.

I'll check. I have an ST60 caliper laying around...waiting to be installed.

I used it at the track this past weekend. Worked great! Didn't need to remove the reservoir cap. Just spread the pads a tad, pulled them out, spread the pistons all the way in, then inserted the new pads. The tool is very worth the money and the small space it takes up in your tool box.

The plate is 3.75" w x 2" h. Below are some pics of a ST60 and ST40. The ST40 is no issues...easy.

The ST60 may be more of a challenge. If you use it sideways, you won't touch all 6 pistons. If you can insert from the top, you can touch all 6 but you might need to turn the wheel so you can get the tool into the wheel well. I'm just going to take a pair of old ST40 pads and use that as a plate to push all 6 pistons back in conjunction with this tool. Problem solved. If you need to change brakes in your F1 car at racing speeds...this tool is not for you. If you want something to make pad changes easier and quicker...this could work for you.

ST60...

Sideways...

From the top...

For pad change on ST 60/40 I use a 9" pliers on the pad ears to spread 'em. Never had an issue....but it's a good reason to have another tool though.

I do most of the pad changes on my E46 which has an ST40 and ST22 caliper. Don't plan on tracking my M3 much in the near term so not a big deal...although not ideal. Kind of having buyer's remorse with the ST60 front BBK...thinking I should have went with the 355mm/ST40 BBK.
