track pads for OEM brake set up?

I tried numerous searches. did not find the answer I am looking for.
I am not sure which track pads to buy and need some help from my brothers.
i have totally stock car. i bought SS line and spoke to couple of guys who have been tracking. They me to get quality stuff. they recommended ss lines, oil flush and carbontechs xp10 and xp8 f/r setup, or ferodo(not sure what type to go with). After talking a little more with them they said i should check what others are running.
any other set-ups recommended?
i saw pagid but it is very expensive as I may not do more than 3 track days.
I like the idea of having some brake bias with the pads.
Thanks

You should try one track day with stock pads first, then move up to the recommendations from others. The Ferodo pads you want is the DS2500 compound.

Pads

I'd also go with this recommendation. Good to get a feel for the limitations of stock pads at the track first. Also (not sure of your driving ability/level), but beginners can sometimes use stock pads the first few times out until you really start taking advantage of the serious braking power these cars have.

My experience: I am running Pagid RS-19 yellow (front) and Pagid RS-7 black (rear). The RS-7s replaced the discontinued RS-19 rear, so they are matching compounds. Expensive, but what I find is not only are they excellent under high temperatures on-track, but have decent cold bite. An added bonus, they are easy on rotors and have good longevity.

After 5 hard track days, the F and R pads are at about 50%+ and the rotors are showing almost no runout (light wear) with no discernable "ridge" created.

My 2 cents. -Brian

I think the PFC-08 compound is out now. It'll last a ton longer than the 01's with plenty of braking feel and capability for a track day. They last as long as the 06's yet have better initial bite is what I'm hearing. I love the 06's (can't wear 'em out and they stop the E46M3 on a dime at the track), so that's good news.

Hawk DTC-70 brake pads are great track pads with a great feel as well.

Hawk HP plus are dual purpose and do both very well. They are noisy though...

That is where the Ferodo DS2500's come in, very similar characteristics, but without so much the noise and dust.

For the love of pete, HP+ pads are not track pads. They have a very dangerous friction/temp curve. There was an article a couple years back on C&D of them crashing a 370Z because the pads failed seemingly spontaneously...this is exactly what I experienced (near crash) with them on my E46 after some idiot told me they were track pads. THEY ARE NOT...their MOT (max operating temp) is well under 1000F, and then they reach their MOT, they stop working without much warning, which makes them dangerous. At least the stock pads give you warning and have a similar MOT.

Ferodo 2500s have the issue of not working well when cold. If you are traveling at low speed and need to stop quickly, they will not respond as you expect them to. I used to run them on my F40 brembos as a street pad, and I nearly clipped a few people in the parking lot...

Brake pads are a safety device as well as a performance device. If you are fading your stock brakes, get a true track pad with a >1600F MOT and a good fluid.

HP+ is sold as a high performance street pad and a light track day pad for light weight or low hp vehicles. Hawk even disclosed in their sales material that the friction levels on this pad drops off quickly once the MOT is exceeded.

DS2500 when bedded in properly has a decent cold bite and no sudden lost of friction when the MOT is exceeded in our experience. It's a far better pad than the HP+. Even street pads will require a bedding in once in a while to keep them working at their best.

I have Carbotech xp12 on front and stock pads on rear and have used them for two years on the M3, 4 years on an Evo 8, and 5 years on a ZO6 before with no issues (XP-10 before the 12's came out). I use Motul RBF 600 which has a very high dry boiling temp because this is what you need and it is very reasonably priced.
