recommended specs for a pressure washer?

i'm thinking about getting a pressure washer for the purpose of making washing the car easier.
i've seen some that have a built in soap/detergent mixer...

whats the general recommendation for psi and capacities?

thanks!

I just bought myself an AR blue clean 118. I think it is probably the "weaker" pressure washers but I have used it two times now and it does an excellent job. So IMO I don't think the super powerful ones are necessary for the weekend warrior

i got a home depot house brand, home lite 2700psi, powered by Honda GCV160? GVC? something like that. $200 OTD from HD

I wanted a high PSI to do some house cleaning as well

Has a soap dispenser, but it won't foam like the MTM attachment I purchased from detailers domain.

I just bought a cheapo electric pressure washer from lowes. I'm just using it for car washes so 1800 psi is enough for me. Then again, from my experience, electric pressure washers have a high fail rate.

Also, I recommend the MTM Foam Lance/gun. I got mine at amazon for $50 shipped. I don't know why other places charge ~$80+shipping for the same thing.

I've heard with higher PSI the more foam you get with the lance. Mine is good enough with Chemical Guys soaps (such as MaxiSuds)

awesome, thanks guys. i've been interested in them since i saw a detailing thread a while back where the car was basically a blob of foam after he sprayed it. he waited about five minutes and rubbed it down and hosed it off and it seemed to be a pretty painless procedure.

I use a AR Blue 383 with a MTM foam lance. I had do a bit of rigging to get the foam lance to work right but now it works great. The pressure washer comes with two different nozzle attachments so I permanently rigged on with the foam lance.
