So I did autox this weekend at Qualcomm. This setup 18x10 Vreds 275x35 square handled much differently than the stock staggered setup I'm used to.
It rained today so I thought the vreds would give me an added advantage. Anyway the square setup brought out a lot more oversteer which I wasn't used to, so it took me a while to get the hang of it. But when I did it was so much fun, the car would predictably slide around corners and I was able to do a lot of throttle steering. I can't say for sure if the tires gripped better than the PS2s generally, but I definitely felt I had a lot more traction taking off from the start line. Turn ins were definitely much more crispier.

Anyways I had my best autox ever and came 2nd in M stock group. My buddy pipped me by 2 seconds for 1st place and he was running stock wheels/PS2s, so the driver made the difference in this case.

I've been looking into these tires to replace my Pilot Sport PS2 (245/40/18 , 265/40/18)
I noticed that Vredestein does not carry the 265/40/18. Is the only option to go with 255/35/18, 275/35/18 ??
Is there any negatives to changing to a wider tire or is the difference so minimal that there should be no real side effects?

I did the exact same for my street set. I haven't switched them out with my track set yet, though, they're still lying in my garage.

The 255/275 maintains the same (more or less) ratio as the stock set. The 35 sidewalls end up making the tire a bit shorter than the PS2's but not by much.

I posted photos of the 275/35 vreds all around vs the stock PS2's (if you search the wheel & tire forum) so you can see how much difference the rear looks (in terms of wheel well fillage)

I don't think you'll notice the difference while driving.

For the So Ca guys, another place that normally has them in stock most of the time and they are located in Stanton. This guy is all about vredestein tires!

I had the first version of vredestein ultrac and had no complaints. I believe i paid roughly $690-710 mounted/balanced from here. I bought 2 245/35/19 & 2 275/30/19. Haven't been there in a while so I don't know if prices went up or not.

Now I really dont know what to do. I need 4 new road tyres and could get Vreds from Mytyres if I go for 275/35/19 rears and 255/35/19 fronts. Better price than other tyres including PS2s which have been ok but dont inspire confidence in the wet (and its wet quite a bit here in the UK!).

Also the roads arent great in the UK. Having said that I only do around 10,000 miles a year in the M3.

Assume from the posts already made that those tyres sizes will fit my Breyton wheels which are currently running PS2s in stock sizes (235/35/19s and 265/35/19s)?

Money doesnt bother me, its only a couple of hundred pounds difference overall.

Stock fronts are 245, not 235. I never had an issue with the wet performance of PS2s, but it looks like the forthcoming PS3s will improve in that area. Not sure how quickly these will be available in our sizes. I would think you can run the larger Vreds just fine, and they do seem to be a good rain tire, but also good in the dry. As previously stated, the only downsides compared to PS2s seem to be a tad more weight and ride harshness.

Oops yeah 245 my bad, perils of staring at tyre sites and tyre sizes all morning! It's tyre not tire by the way.

I'm ordering a pair of the Vreds in 275 for the rears and 255 for the fronts.

Ive also got to put road tax on it for another year today, £460 a year FFS, bloody Government and bullshit environmental crap. I should get a special "Gold" lane on the Motorway.

few remarks after about 700 miles with my new Vred's
Compared to the Michelin PS2, when the Vred's are cold and until I drive for about 10-15 miles, the Vred's produce definitely more vibrations. After 10-15 miles it's smoother but first 10 minutes, comfort is not there.
I even had my wheels rechecked for balance to be sure.
But in the rain, they handle much better than the Michelin and on dry, when the tires are up in temperatures, great grip.
I just wanted to know if someone else noticed this issue with cold tires?

I have no issues with vibration, cold or warm. As I have noted before, however, they are much harsher overall in terms of comfort; almost feel like runflats (maybe not quite that bad).

I had a slight issue, but upon road force rebalancing it has pretty much gone away. The issue arises for me it seems more from a slight flat spotting (tire memory) than anything else. I am not driving my car that much right now and it is very common for the car to sit for a week or two between being driven.

I have found tires with stiff sidewalls have a tendency to flat spot overnight and take a little while to warm up, Pirellis I have used in the past did this as well. No worries here, small sacrifice for improved response.
