I drove mine in a snow storm in southern Germany about a month ago. Handled great with Pirelli snows mounted!
This was before it really started coming down

Here's my M3 out in the snow yesterday. Some strange weather in the Pacific NW this past week!

Here's mine in the Chicago snow. Riding on Pirelli's with no problem in the snow usually. Though clearance is definitely an issue after 5-6 inches. This car is fun to drive in the snow. Always well balanced. Although I also took the wife's x5m riding on blizzaks out and that was crazy fun. That car is such a monster in the snow.

The one thing I will not do is drive it in the snow. Two winters in PA ruined my previous 350Z.

It is my first winter with the M and I am hoping for some propper snow here. Last year I would not have needed those bloody winter tyres on my E46 at all.
Anyway, I own a nice set of 260Ms with Conti TS810 tyres 246/265 and V-rated (240kph). On wet roads they are good for drifting but I really hope for an opportunity to rest them in real winter conditions. My friend who also has an M3 said the M3 handles well on snow because of the weight distribution and the LSD. |

I have the pirelli winter tyres and they make a massive difference.
I have the DCT - I tried the lowest gear box setting. Allows you to pull away in 2nd. Even with the DSC on I still got the rear out 15 deg or so on power slides before the DSC cut in got it back in shape. Will have to try it in dynamic mode! For me its about getting up mountain roads to ski resorts. I once managed to get up to Verbier in 6in of new snow, completely fine. |
