Is Rake good or bad?

So I havent gotten too far with my last thread I made so maybe if I make it a simple yes or no question I will get more input.

Is having a little rake good or bad? I have my rear at 25.5 and my front at 25.25 and thinking about moving the back up to 25.75 to stop the rubbing on the inner plastic bump of the rear fender. Good or bad?

Cut out the plastic bump with a dremel.

Rake affects your steady state under vs oversteer. It seems everyone adds rake when lowering their cars. I think it's fine.

The plastic liner. Can't really mess up unless you accidentally cut into the metal fender.

I took out the plastic liner so I could cut it easier.

Good idea. I may do this tomorrow. You happen to have any pictures of what yours looks like now?

Thanks!

At the casino it's bad, on a muscle car it's good.

Only if you're driving in a straight line.

It's not ideal, but for most people it'll be fine.

Rake affects the airflow under the car at high speed....ie how much lift you get front to rear. Somewhere around the rake a std car has should be the aim.

It looks decent but not sure it performs as well aerodynamically.

It just seems having no rake means the rear looks slammed and the front has a gap.

My e46 track car isn't slammed in the rear. Set up with about equal gap front and rear but haven't measured.

Under heavy braking, the weight transfer to the front makes the rear very loose if you have too much rake. I am struggling with the same issue. I don't care about rubbing the fender liner except that I am rubbing it where the fuel filler neck is.

Did you cut out the rear portion of the liner I assume? The one you refer to is higher up in the fender right?

I have not cut any of it yet. I have a bunch of rub spots and may try spacers to help since I run -2.0 camber.

Yeah Im wondering if im gonna cut mine at all. I only rub when I hit a big dip on the freeway and I dont really rub bad. I dont want to add more rake to my setup so I think I may either live with the rub or cut it out if it bugs me any more.

Rake will affect the handling characteristics of the vehicle. 3/4 to 1" of rake is what you should shoot for.

Realistically, how much will rake impact my e90? No tracking, just regular DDing. Will the performance be noticeably impacted?
