i thought that was the whole point???
get your M in Germany, drive around beautiful scenery on curvy mountain roads where the M really comes alive, and then go home and realise that should have never come back... or do you save a few $$ by doing ED, but not doing it? |

Selling drugs to BMW addicts

Is it possible to eat a Big Mac, enjoy the taste, be full but not take in the calories?
NO. ED offers a car at a highly discounted rate. BMW is using it to build brand image and make customers customers for life. So why would they pay you for not doing it? And to take it even further: If it works, why is not everybody doing it? We sell BMWs at a price under stateside invoice as well, but you have to be military. See, there is a catch to everything....

Obviously OP wants to get ED discounted price w/o physically going there.
First you need to understand the requirement for ED (per bimmerfest ED wiki): # Be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver's license and passport. # Place your order through an authorized BMW center. Note: Cars built in the U.S. ( X5/X6 models) are not eligible for the European Delivery Program, nor are MINIs. # You may keep your car in Europe up to 5 months after delivery (there is a 19% penalty tax if your car is not exported within the 6-month period). Cars financed through BMW Financial Services must be exported within 90 days. Cars leased through BMW Financial Services must be exported within 30 days. # Your new BMW is restricted to private use by tourists (including business travelers). Persons working in Europe on temporary or long-term assignments are not eligible for the special customs license plates issued under the European Delivery Program. Basically the person ordering the car MUST be the one picking up the car. How you work around this is for you to think about. |

Actually, OP asked if it were possible to take advantage of the ED program without flying to Europe.
The answer is yes, you could sail to Europe.

It is possible, but I will tell you this, next time I order a BMW, I will be doing ED, even if you break even after everything, at least you got a vacation as well.

Send me over a power of Attorney to pick up your car. I'll take pictures of it at a bunch of scenic locations and it will be like a vacation for you that you don't actually have to go on. At the end of your "vacation" I'll get it to the port where you can then enjoy the car when it arrives at home.
I promise not to exceed the break-in limits |

No, you have to pick it up. You can pick it up and drive it to the port if you want. It defeats the purpose though.

Because I'm military in Europe my SA says I have to pick it up at the dealer for registration and VAT purposes. I'm really disappointing I can't take these pictures for myself - though they will set me up with a tour.
