Recaros are preferred here for the most part. Harnesses aren't necessary.

I like Recaro, Sparco, and OMP (in no order). And harnesses are nice to hold you in and add some feeling of safety (with a cage or bar). It depends on how much street time the car will see too, I wanted to put Sparco Circuit's in my E36 racecar but I would never put those in a street/track M3 because they are halo seats etc.

I like the Recaro SPGs for a mostly tracked car. Just don't leave keys or your wallet in your pants. You will be reminded that you have something in your pocket. Heaven forbids you have hungry butt and have turn your thong into regular boxer briefs again. So not a good DD seat.

All of the names mentioned above produce quality seats. The key is to get a seat that FITS YOU. You seem to be in NYC, so I am sure you will find some local vendors who have demo units you can try out.
