Specific questions about the e92M
Hi guys, I'm looking at some used manual M3's atm, and after driving 2 of them I've noticed a few things. I'm not sure if these are normal or not:
1. The "///M" logo on the speedo is not backlit 2. The "///M" logo on the backlit gearknob/shifter always appears cracked somewhat, like porcelain (specifically the white of the "M"). 3. When I press the clutch all the way down to the floor, it sounds like it's hitting hollow plastic, like there's something in the way Would someone be kind enough to verify whether these are faults or not? Also there's one particular car which when looking at the service history they were basically like this: 1. 2300kms, 1 year after delivery '09 2. 13000 in '10 3. 25000 in '11 4. 27000 a few months later in '11 And that was it. The first service interval seemed a bit suspicious, considering that it was done about 14 months after the car was built. And the other weird thing is the two services done within months of each other, albeit with different things ticked in the service record. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance |

1. the M on the speedo is not back lit.
2. Not sure what you mean, but mines not an issue. 3. I have the same problem, I have 6000 miles, thought it was the clutch it self that needed lubrication, but it appears to be the panel behind the pedals and the dead pedal that squeaks, I need BMW to look at it again at my next service.

Put a clutch stop in, solves the problem and make the clutch more effective by shortening the dead pedal arc

Thanks for your help fellas. The gear knob issue is when the backlight is on, the whiteness in the M seems to be cracked if you take a very close look. It isn't a uniform, solid colour, but appears to have irregular lines through the "M" logo.

All normal:
#2 is annoying however. 1. The "///M" logo on the speedo is not backlit 2.
