Different Tint!

What are the major differences between all of the tints out there?

Go with a ceramic tint- from what I understand, it won't interfere with your Nav, Sat Radio, AM/FM transmission.

Another issue with tint and tint brands is how the tint will handle the dot matrix that surrounds that rear window...Most likely you will end up with lighter areas where the tint wont adhere to the window correctly....

There are three basic types of tint: dyed, metallic, and ceramic.

Metallic often interferes with AM reception and radar detector performance. It won't affect your nav or sat radio because those obtain their signal from the antenna on the roof of the car. This pretty much rules metallic out.

Dyed tints won't interfere with your car's functions, but they will fade faster than the other types and also doesn't block as much heat for the same reflectivity. If you go with a dyed tint, don't cheap out. Get a good 3M or Madico product.

Ceramic tint is what I would recommend. It has the best heat rejection, most likely won't interfere with your radio reception, won't fade as easily as the others, and has a very classy/luxury look. The one downside is that ceramic is more expensive.

There are three primary manufacturers of ceramic tint: Huper Optik, FormulaOne Pinnacle, and Madico Charcool. I've always used FormulaOne Pinnacle because I've never had interference problems, it's not quite as thick as the HO so it's easier to install well, and I like the appearance the best.
