Nice driving Wisco! As a previous WI and MN resident (recently moved to AZ), I've seen firsthand how fast those regions' drivers are. Top PAX against that crowd is damn impressive.
Would love to hear more about your setup if you don't mind sharing. Specifically, tire sizes and 6MT/DCT. I picked up a 2011 ZCP DCT recently to replace my STU prepped E36 M3 and am leaning towards a RE-71 275 square setup on ZCP width/offset 18" ARC-8s (group buy open on those ARC-8s right now in case anyone else is looking: https://www.groupbuyparts.com/index....s-q3-2016.html). z3papa, thanks for the excellent write up on the RE-71 vs Rival S. Having driven the RE-71s on my E36 last year, I was leaning heavily towards the same for my E92 and your post confirmed that its the right decision for my needs. |

My setup isn't much different than anyone else. My car is a DCT ZCP. I went with D-Force rims at 18x9 in front, 18x10 in back with the subsequent spacers to get them within 7mm of stock offsets w/ 275 RE71's all the way around.
I've also done the front bar and went with a Dinan adjustable, set at about the middle stiffness setting. Outside of that, I have a Corsa exhaust and that's the extent of it. I run the car on stock shocks on the "sport" setting with throttle sensitivity at the minimum / normal. I've done nothing exotic or expensive, and the car is my daily driver (winter and all). I couldn't ask for a better multi-purpose vehicle. It handles incredibly neutral at elevated speeds, but I noticed a touch of low speed corner exit push in tight corners. |

There wasn't too much to share, rims and a bar is the extent of it.
The sway bar made the car tolerable through slaloms, it was a wallowing pig before. In conjunction with large front tires it's a pretty easy car to drive at or at least near the limit. |

Yanking the camber pins and giving the car an autocross-esque alignment was the first thing I did.. Even before replacing the worn out Super Sports I bought the car with. I almost forgot about that step.
TBH, I'd have to dig through my records to find the specs I had it done to. I don't recall off the top of my head. |

Good to know the front sway helps. Do you use s6 mode of the dct? For some reason, for me, 1 to 2 shift under wot always prompt sone side way actions under s6 mode…

Here's some video shot from outside the car by my co-driver with a little bit of slalom action.
The slalom-ing is at 1:00, with some of the fellow M3 drivers following. |

That's some embarrassing footage of me in the 91. I just never had an confidence the car would be where I thought it should be. Thanks for that though. Reminder where I'll be when right.

Wisco M3, what happened to your informative post just now? (have it in e-mail notification).
EDIT: Nevermind...I see it up above from a couple of weeks ago. Very strange.

There were a few present with co-drivers (me included) that either don't have co-drivers or out the mix for reasons which are not obvious. Sean O'Boyle would have been there with a co-driver. John Laughlin whose car was driven by Bryan Heitkotter sold his. They are competitive but circumstances have changed. Come out and be the sleeper no one knows may kick their ass. As an aside, immediate sold my Rival S, and have I driven now a couple of events on RE71R 285/30-18's rear. They are pretty awesome both in terms of corner dig, always being in max access and lack of sidewall squirm at full thread. Will be taking two sets of wheels/tires out to choose based on perceived speed as you do give up about 2-2.5 mph to rev limit in 2nd.

I've done the Milwaukee SCCA track days at the nearby Milwaukee Mile and I agree that these guys have their shit down to a science. Very efficient and well-run.

For what its worth - I took 3rd overall a few weeks ago, then Cashmore took my car on a few fun runs. He bested my time by about 6 tenths or so and would have pax'd the event by 4 tenths. The car certainly has potential, and seemingly more than I'm getting out of it. On the 285s - I really enjoy how neutral the car is with the 275s sure, which makes it incredibly easy to drive (for my style). Does going to staggered adversely affect that at all? I'd be concerned about the car not rotating readily, but that could be adjusted out through softer front sways. Last edited by Wisco M3; 08-05-2016 at 08:05 AM.. |

I don't think you would see much change in balance with the 285 in back. Yes it's wider but its also shorter so you are taking some rake out and giving the throttle more authority over the attitude of the car thanks to better gearing
But I wouldn't touch it if you already have good tires on the car don't screw up a good thing! Last edited by Richbot; 08-05-2016 at 08:42 AM.. |

Like an idiot, I still don't know if I'll be able to go to Nats. I went to sign up anyways and just eat the late fee if necessary, and low and behold... max has been reached and I'm on the wait list.

Ouch on wait list. Did the first Nat'l event on the RE71R 285/30-18's this past weekend. Coming from the Rival S I was on briefly, they are worlds better both in grip, precision, but the aspect really helps dig outs in any corner of moderate speed. The biggest downside is compliance at full lateral load in sweepers. I'll take the rears with me to Nats with my 275 square setup and use the rears which suits the course max speed. I ended up 2nd out of 7 at the Blytheville Pro about .55 out of first after leaving .9 on the right side due to a .489 red light.

I've been able to successfully register, so assuming everything pans out the way I hope, I'll be adding to the M3 count in FS. Now I can start the laundry list of crap to get together for nationals.
