I think of the PASM Sport like ZCP on M3. factory setup that inches closer to after market.

997.2 has also two extra oil scavenging pumps, important if you are tracking. I would not recommend a 997.1 to you. When I was cross shopping the M3, I wanted Gen 2 = 997.2.
This is wrong info. On 997.1 you can order LSD at no cost with Carrera S but LSD comes with -20 mm sports chassie which is for track use and has no PASM.

Porsche fixed this problem with 997.2
You can now get LSD with Sport PASM on 997.2 Carrera S, this time at additional cost.

Thats the ROTW Porsche..in the US a LSD was not available on the 997.1 or the 997.1S. We had to get a GT3 or Turbo to be offered a LSD.

Dave.

Just because you get PASM doesn't mean you get a LSD. With the 997.1 cars there was no LSD diffy offered for US cars, the ROTW cars this was an option. In the US we had to wait for the 997.2 cars to get the LSD or the Sport PASM which included the LSD and a -20mm suspension. If you got a 997.2S but jyou got just the regular PASM there was no LSD unless you ordered it as a seperate option, which was stupid as for the same price you get the sport PASM which included the LSD.

To be honest a LSD in the 997.1 cars was really not necessary as I never found the car lacking for rear end traction. The light front end on the car would push and bounce but a little braking to shift the weight forward a tad on turn in did wonders.
