Congrats man!! That was fast. Don't worry about some of these guys here thinking you're nuts. Money doesn't grow on trees for all of us so it makes sense to drive one car that would give you the same satisfaction it took two cars to do.

I just don't drive the 997 often enough (7,500 miles in 2-1/2 years) and it sits in the garage depreciating while I pay property tax, insurance and services. Test drove the M3 a few weeks ago and loved it - all the practicality and comfort of the 335 with the performance and excitement of the Porsche. I'm about to pull the trigger. Am I crazy?
What's up man, I've seen you on 6speedonline I believe. I got rid of a 08 328i and my 07 997S to get into the M3. I got rid of the 328i and was using my 997S as a DD, that just didn't work. The M3 really is the best of both worlds. It doesn't have the visceral feel of the 997S but its not that far off that you don't get the enjoyment. The engine in the car is absolutely superb and truely is one of the best powerplants out there.

Awesome...

That's me. Didn't you have a Speed Yellow 997? I haven't been using the 997 as a daily driver but I agree that it would not be a very comfortable one. When it comes to cars, I have the attention span of a gnat and after 2-1/2 years with the Porssche, it's time for something new. It was the first car that I had bought outright in years and watching it depreciate was killing me. The depreciation will only get worse next year when the 997 replacement is introduced.

Glad to hear you are liking the M3. I have test driven it multiple times and really like it and the DCT. I have had a long run of Bimmers since 1999 (8 to be exact including an e46 M3) and i feel good about getting back into one . . . Of course, the killer deal that I got on the new one doesn't hurt.

That was me..I spent 3.5 yrs. in my 997S and I thought it was an incredible car but I never felt at home in it. I lease my vehicles for the tax advantages and I am actually thrilled I didn't buy the 997. I had just 6 mos left in the lease and was able to get out a bit early.

I too have had a number of BMWs since 2001 starting with my first E46 M3, several plain jane 3 series, a 04 E46 M3 and a X3. This is my 6th BMW in 10 years...yikes.
