I respect the CTS-V, its a beast in its own right and cars like these will just make BMW work harder to build better cars.

They are definitely biased here, but that's to be expected, can't blame them. Any love for the Vette (or CTS-V) will have to be found on the Corvette Forum.

CTS-V coupe is too heavy for my taste give me an M3 coupe any day. I also think that the M3 looks more stylish then the Caddy. Also, those wheels on caddy look sort of small on that car.

BMW M3 or CTS-V Coupe?????? Hands down in any situation i would prefer the M. I used to work very closely with one of LI's best selling GM dealership and the amount of problems i have personally seen with these cars would make you sick :-(.
Plus the CTS isnt as sexy as the M..sorry GM keep it moving lol |

The fact that any Cadillac can be compared to a BMW, let alone an M3 in terms of performance shows how much Cadillac has eveolved. In 1969 such a comparison would only have been done as a joke,
I was in a CTS-V for a few laps of Monticello Motorsports yesterday. I am not saying I would prefer one to an M3 but I have to give GM/Cadillac credit for building an excellent car (that I am unlikely to going to buy.)

CTS-V is also about the size of a 5 series. Lets see if GM eventaully makes a true 3 series competitor and drops in LSA engine. I just don't like the exterior styling but performance-wise the CTS-V is impresive.

Not to pick on you in particular, but who gives a damn what anybody thinks about styling. It's entirely subjective, and I remind you that, horrors!, some folks aren't in love with the current M3 lines either.
Bottom line: It's about performance, price, reliability, and in the case of the M3, utility as well. On these fronts, the CTS-V cars seem to compete really well. They're priced similarly, are as quick or quicker than an M3 in the twisties, and definitely quicker in a straight line. Plus, coupe or sedan, they're at least as comfy inside, or on a trip. MPG? They all suck. In the case of the M3, almost unforgiveably so, given it's size, weight and engine capacity. Reliability? Looks as if the Cadillacs have an early leg up, but I admit that's partly because the M guys haven't yet figured out how to make the automatic work. Meanwhile, the DSG cars sail on, as do the DKG cars for the most part. Ridiculous. The M team better shape up, or even the fanboys may start murmuring. Meanwhile, from my perspective, the CTS-V cars are the best competition there is to the M3, and, other than that elusive "German engineering" crap, they're winners. I have little doubt the new M5 will ace the Cadillacs in performance (it better!), but it will be at a big price premium. Bruce |

I have not really looked at the CTS-V, but how is the interior in terms of fit and finish as well as materials? It's always seemed that American cars fall well short of their German competition when it comes to the look and feel of the interiors.
To me when you get to a certain performance level (which both the M3 and CTS-V have) it comes down to other things that really make for an enjoyable driving experience. One of the biggest is ones is what the interiors are like. |

Just drove a CTSV coupe. Granted it was an automatic and not a 6spd, and I didn't throw it around (because I wanted to be respectful), it was a very nice car. It felt like a big car but didn't drive like one. The power is pretty insane for when I did kind of get on it. I still like the feel of the BMW better, but it is one heck of a car. I told them to call me when they get a 6spd 4 door, hehe.

CTS-V is a very nice car. If I were in the M5 market, I would consider the caddy. Coming from a Cayman, M3 is already an overweight pig, so caddy just was too much of a leap. But I give respect where respect is due. I sure wish they sold more to make sure GM continues making the V series.

In terms of interiors, individual tastes vary, but I'd pretty much call it a tie between the V-cars and the M3 - which is not high praise for the Cadillac since in my opinion the M3 interior is nothing to shout about. Then again, if interiors are really important in the pecking order, we'd all be driving Audis. Bruce |
