supercharger and resale

I know most of us mod because we want to and not for future resale but out of curiosity, if most of you guys with e9x SC's choose to get rid of your cars in the next few years for the next M, 911, etc, do you think that will hurt or improve the resale of your car? There seems to be a fair # of SC/turbo e46's on the market, anyone not buy one because of the SC/turbo kit?
Most of the used M3 classified adds that seem to garnish the higher sale price are the lower mileage non modded cars except, maybe, the Dinan cars that seem to sell well.

I think it will hurt resale. Less people in the market for it not to mention you may need a cash buyer because most banks will only pay a certain amount for a car if you are financing (I guess you can call it bluebook).

Most people will have there reservations about buying a car with an SC due to the probable accelerated wear and tear of the parts due to the SC. Just my opinion.

I think it may hurt the resale depending on the whole package of the car, for example the look of the car, wheels, diffusers.. other cosmetic extras.

I bought my SC kit with the understanding that I may never get my money back if I ever came to sell it. But for now and the near future I have no intention on selling

As with ALL aftermarket parts, I have yet to see one that helps the resale. I have had an 80% carbon fiber IS300 show car, and a 624hp to the wheels STi... both I sold and never saw a penny of what I put back into it.

But you don't mod your car for resale values (unless you are the dealer) you mod your car to make it individual.

The best part about other people modding the car before you is you get to buy the car and say "well this supercharger probably did more harm then good" and make your own offer, thus getting you a bad ass deal on a sweet ride!

It will hurt resale, and there is absolutely no doubt of it. It will both devalue the car and remove a good chunk of the buyer market. Even folks who mod their cars do not want to buy a modified car. And of all the possibilities, superchargers are probably the worst. They suggest hard use, and, minor tuning problems can result in serious engine damage.

It will definitely hurt resale. Of the 2 SC BMWs I have had, I have lost money on both. Like the person above me said before, you mod your car to be different.

Great question.

If supercharged, you might as well keep the car until it can only be used as a boat anchor because it wont be worth shit. Granted, there will always be some "Beverly Hills Gangsta" with a sideways Dodgers cap and a bank roll who may buy it, but for the most part, your universe of potential suiters shrinks to a fraction. The same goes any other major mods.

I put my cars back to stock when I"m ready to sell them. I then sell all of the performance parts, wheels, exhaust, etc through the forums or eBay.

I keep all of the factory parts (wheels, exhaust, etc.) and I lose very little money since I do all of my work.

Question is: Will you disclose that your engine was at one point supercharged. If you are honest and disclose it, then it is the same as having the supercharger still on. Only if you hide the fact that it was supercharged will it not hurt your resale.
