I had my Rs4 year or so ago... Never had any issues really... I took my manifold off to clean in but it wasn't even necessary. Maybe mine wasn't as bad as others had it.

I haven't heard of any other problems with them... I'm not saying there aren't any, but if one person has a weird problem because of the way he/she used the car, doesn't mean Every Rs4/S4/R8 will have it.

Same thing with M3. If one person has an issue with DCT and the Error warning sign, doesn't really mean everyone will.

This also goes with E46 and the SMG. Everyone was worried that once it reaches 80K or so, the SMG pump will just stop working. My M3 had 146K and the Pump was still perfect. The guy i sold it to has 163K and it's still original. Depends how you treat the car i guess.

Why not? R8's are extremely well balanced, fun drivers and still a head turner. M3's are, let's face it, dime a dozen in comparison and you won't have any problems finding another if you don't like the R8.

I feel like the M3 is clearly the more practical choice, you'd almost have to commit to a second daily driver once you picked up the R8. With that being said, my suggestion is: trade the M3 for the R8, and then buy an E90 M3 for a daily driver. Everybody wins!

Boostin,
I would keep the M3 if I were you. Wait for about 2 years and check out a used 2010 R8 V10. That is worth the money IMHO.

The M3 is basically just as fast if not faster than the R8 in the right hands. Ideal daily driver as well! R8 on the other hand, looks better.

If your into aesthetics and people breaking their necks whenever you pass by them, then R8 is your answer.

If your into performance and an ideal handsome daily driver, go for the M3.

Btw, is that an arkym lip on your M3? Looks really good.

Thanks. I'm leaning more towards keeping it... At least for now. Screw it.

Yeah, it's arkym style lip... Fits and looks great.

I think maybe I can help. I sold my 2008 R8 last week. i owned the car for 2 years and think its a fantastic car but having had my m3 for 2 weeks I still dont miss the R8. This is probably due to me using the R8 as a daily for 2 years and like any car gets boring eventually. Beware of an R8 with 25K on the clock it will be due a clutch change at about 35K which will set you back about $6K. It will probably also need new discs and pads around the same time which is another $2K. You will make this money back on the cheaper fuel costs tho....eventually lol. The V8s also dont hold there value very well now the V10 is out and resale is affected quite a lot by mileage and color. I would personally avoid buying an R8 in blue or silver as it will be harder to resell (at least in UK). If you buy it privately tho and dont plan on doing many miles you should be able to keep your loss down to a minimum like on any car tho.

The R8 gets an insane amount of attention compared to the M3 and you will constantly get people taking pictures, asking questions etc, but it does get old fast. I like the understated nature of my new M3. Performance wise there is no difference but I feel you notice the power more in the M3. If you like to mod the R8 modding game is very expensive! I am loving how cheap M3s are to mod, already ordered a full CF interior from BMW. Doing the same from Audi for the R8 would probably set me back $6K!

Thanks. My M3 is daily driver, and the R8, if i ever get it, would be the same... I'm kind of over it on the whole deal, so I'm moving on

Now its my turn to jump on the bandwagon!

Been looking at these also. But I like the "wait a few years and get the v10" idea.
