As others have said, Interlagos is very purple in sunlight, but otherwise a darker/deeper blue overall. Le Mans is more of a straightforward, classic blue.

There are Individual spec M5s in the US. Go check out M5Board.com for more info. I remember reading about one guy who owned an Onyx Blue e60 M5 in Baltimore. There are tons of e46 M3s in individual colors throughout the US (my friend has an Avus blue e46 M3 purchased in California) so I'm sure you can do it for the e92 M3 but it's going to take longer to build than regular spec M3s, not to mention the color is going to cost you extra. Not every dealer will do individual options so you have to call around.

i prefer interlagos, because it is more exclusive than lemans, you can find lemans blue in a lot of bmws but you can only find interlagos in m cars, i have seen lemans even at an old 2000 x5. it is just too blue is something like montego, interlagos is a very solid color and it is very unique and beatifull. you will only find interlagos in m6, m5, m3, or z4 m.

Is it just me or is the Lemans Blue much brighter? It looks that way in the pictures. I wish I could see them side by side in person. Is there any possible way to get a bright blue other then to paint it after you buy it? I've seen the photoshops and I think it looks amazing on the M.
Thanks, Chris |

I think they are just acknowledging that their customer base is a bit older now due to the higher MSRP. Don't get me wrong though, I am 35 and love stand-out colors, but I have little love for the LSB or PHY of yesterday. Give me a GT3 RS Orange or a Dakar Yellow and then we'll talk.

Yep, it's great. A close mate of mine has an E39 M5 in Estoril and white leather - nice in a hot climate!
I think it would be a good choice for the E90/E92/E93 M3. I also agree that they should be considering a more unique & vibrant palette (Dakar for e.g.) JzB is the only colour that I find new and exciting due to its highlights...

You're probably right: but given the survey data I have seen there's a lot of < 35 y.o. drivers so it's misguided. And I'm in my 40s and I want more panache in the palette - if I have my mid-life crisis I want it to be gaudy!

I'm not sure why some are turned off by the purplish hue of the IB and Sparkling Graphite in direct sunlight. The Techno Violet color is way over the top IMO, but having a hint of purple in certain lights gives the car a cool edge and makes it pop. |

This photo of my interlagos M3 pretty much captures the spectrum of appearance across the hood:
It can be purplish as on the left side of the pic or not purple at all as on the right. Depends on the angle, etc. It's really quite a color; complexity 4tw.

Great picture. Epacy/Reincarnated also has some pics that look very much like the color in person. Absolutely stunning.

Every actual IB that I've seen looks darker than all of the pictures, I guess you have to be in bright sunlight to bring out all of the depth to it. I ordered LMB as I prefer the lighter colors, even if only a little bit (+ easier to keep clean when you live in a wooded area).

IB is better than black, LMB (I assume) better than IB, and so forth, it just depends where your balance between acceptable colors / likelyhood to get dirty lies.
I have always been an ardent manual aficionado, however since the E90 makes the most sense for me (for kids and business clients), the multi-purpose DCT (my wife gets to drive now too) is the logical choice. I my mind, I am going from the least practical sports car (Lotus Elise) to the most! |
