If you want an "exclusive" then neither the M3, 911 or Corvette will meet your criteria... but especially the 911... where I live they are everywhere.

You see 911s, but you don't see them every time i drive. specially new ones. I have seen more demo c7s than E92 m3s this month, in fact i don't remember last time i saw a M3. and i love it ! |

75k? , you do know you can buy a 2010 ZR1, for like 78k - with approximately 5 to 8k miles!!... The ZR1 will rip this cars face off due to it 638 HP and 604 lb/ft torque. This is a base model, this is bottom of the line...like a 328i lol.....ZR1 is like a M3 ...top of the line for the Corvette. |

Because your right, that is not all that matters. However, between the two models there are not any exceptional advantages between the two, except which one is faster. I will say that if I had a choice between two M3s of the same price - I am taking the face ripper every time over the other....

My point is you have the choice to buy a 4 year old ZR1, no warranty, with 10 year old technology and a very dated interior OR buy a less powerful C7 that looks better inside and out (IMO), modern technology, looks new, performs better than most anything else on a track with the exception of a select number of cars, pay $65k very well equiped and have a full warranty. I would only pick the 2010 ZR1 if pure power and speed were all that mattered to me. Having said that, if the power matters, wait for the Z06 C7 which is rumoured to have 600+ HP but with all of the other advantages the C7 has brought to the table over the C6. Better yet, wait a few more years and buy a used C7 Z06.

I tend to always be looking for speed as the number one buying criteria. I do come from the Corvette world, I owned a 2008 Corvette before the M3 that I bought in April of this year. Modified it my Corvette to 700 hp it was a base model... Still was not a ZR1! in the Corvette world the ZR1 is iconic and a legend...its the one and only top dog to own. So maybe I am tainted by my time in that world....The base model is always looked down upon. Maybe this wont be the case this time around. |

So how many DCT M3 owners will go for the C7 automatic or will you folks go "down" to an MT?

That is true. Although you have to think of how many people own an automatic Corvette as anything more than a weekend cruising car or as an attraction getting daily driver? Can't recall seeing many of them at the track days I've watched or participated in. I'd wager most Corvette track lovers get the manual to start.

Absolutely - it's a fantastic car. I'm just saying that, for me, I am absolutely addicted to the DCT now, so going back to a manual would not be an option. And the slushbox would likely not give the same rapid-fire experience. Still, I would not dismiss outright; I'd at least give it a test drive.
