I guess that isn't so bad, but there still is no competition in my mind.
One thing that we know is that those $1200 buy a set of OEM forged wheels. What we do not know yet is if the ZCP wheels are forged as well.

To me they are at best spun cast, so that's the reason this package is not that expensive by BMW standards. Hell, I could even say that it is quite attractive for those that anyway will be dropping their EDC M3 without any concerns about damaging it with aftermarket springs. In comparison, I spent some $2400 getting my E46 ZCP wheels and Eibachs installed on top of the EDC option cost...

I'm going to get this for sure, because if not i'll drop at least $2000+ on wheels and tires anyway.

The GTS rims are sexy and with the included springs, I think pricing is really good, in my perspective.

The black 359M wheels for the GTS are cast (flow? not sure), so I have to assume that the silver 359M wheels for the 7MA option are as well.

As always, your car looks great. Have you considered updating your trunk and taillights to LCI?

yeah buy the time you get some cheap 19's with tires and shipping, its well over $2400. i want the option just for the GTS wheels. i would be nice if you can get both GTS and Stock 19' wheels.

In terms of an "upgrade" that is not very impressive. I would put the $2,500 towards an upgraded brake package.
I agree, hopefully we can get some comp brakes like we had on the e46 M3 and direct steering ratio. It would suck if we Only got wheels, lowered suspension and different EDC... I Hope BMW will add more things later like brakes at least, alcantera interior fixtures would be good too lol.... well see what happens.....

Not much to the package. I was expecting more. Maybe we don't have all the details yet.

I'm pretty sure we do. And based on the $2,500 option price, I would be surprised if that package has more in it than what we already know.

it's not that bad price imo, thought it would go over 3k for sure...

hmmm 2.5k with 19s, lowered by factory and revised EDC... not too shabby a deal!

I was planning on going with the 19" wheels anyways, so the delta isn't too bad.

I will now be keeping my car when the lease is over. There's NOTHING here to make me "upgrade."

Here's the Official press release on the MY 2011 M3:

Quote:
M3
The M3 Coupe, Sedan, and Convertible models become 2011 models this spring. BMW ups the ante on the M3 Coupe and Sedan by offering a new “Competition Package” for MY2011. The package further enhances the highly responsive chassis by installing a 10mm lower suspension and 19” wheels with greater offset for a wider track. Combined with remapped Electronic Damping Control and Dynamic Stability Control systems, the M3 with Competition Package is the best handling production M car ever built.

The MSRP of MY2011 M3 Sedan, Coupe, and Convertible remain unchanged at $56,275, $59,275, and $67,925, respectively. All prices include $875 Destination & Handling. The Competition Package is available on the Coupe and Sedan models for $2,500.

Best regards,
south

Well.....it's better than nothing. It's just not enough to make me trade up, which is what I was hoping for. If I were shipping a new M3 I'd want this package, but I want a real competition package, not an appearance package.

If you're driving smoothly on the track you shouldn't be setting off DSC in normal mode, let alone MDM.

Anyway, at $2500 this sounds like a pretty good deal, though you're not getting a whole lot. Frozen Gray FTW though.

Everyone's slamming this thing but for $2500 you get better wheels than the $1200 option and EDC and some springs etc. So $1300 for EDC and springs - not bad in my opinion.

I don't think the are better than the forged 19". I suspect these are cast wheels. I guess we'll know for sure soon.

i was really hoping for a slight bump in power or some alcantra stuff (comp steering wheel would have been great). $2500 is not so bad though for wheels, springs, and new edc setting.

That's what I was thinking. They may look better, but they're likely cast.

I believe they are cast, but Mark's M has indicated that they could be lighter than our 19" forged wheels. Mark, if you're out there, can you shed some light on the weight issue?
