Modded M3 vs Modded 335i Data

1st the dyno's, up here at my elevation. 5500ft at sea-level so the M3 loses 17% power. M3 on dyno, Chip + Xhaust, pump fuel, 331hp. Makes 385rwhp at sea-level.

My old 335i on the same dyno up at 5500ft. Chip, intake, full Xhaust with catless downpipes, Spearco cooler, Aquamist meth injection, Forge DV's, pump fuel, 375hp:

I have many logs at sea-level & at altitude. I think the most meaningful would be to compare times from the same test "track". Lucky I have a few logs at the infamous Toll which is at sea-level. The test track is totally flat. Drops like 5-6m in the course of 900m. So the gradient is flatter than most drag strips around the world. After 900m it drops a bit, but that's the same for both cars. Comparing times from different "tracks" is meaningless as the gradient & even the elevation will be slightly different & skew the results

So here are the best runs of my 335 & M3 at the Toll "track". Both times with pump fuel & in pretty warm ambients, between 27-32deg C. So the cars weren't properly prepped both times. No racefuel, no cooling of the manifold, street tyres with normal pressures. So basically as they run on the street. I'm sure in race trim one could drop significantly in Et & both cars (Expecially the 335) would gain quite a bit with racefuel. The 335 is the blue line in all the pics.

And here's the 60-130 comparison at sea-level:

And here is the M3's best 1/4 mile, street trim, street tyres, unprepped street:

And the 335 at the same "track":

Great post. I appreciate the attention to detail. What flash and exhaust do/did the M3 and the 335 each have?

An M3 will always have an advantage over the 335 since the M3 is geared so much shorter.

Had a 335i with a tune. Seat of the pants seemed faster than the M3 due to the mountain of torque right at tip-in. M3 just keeps pulling, and finally pulls ahead.

Nice comparison - does the M3 have a full exhaust or just catback?
