Everything else was of good quality - plastics, decent seats, knobs, etc.

So I would not discount the ST as a good driving tool. Not at the same level as the M3 of course, but if it addresses the lifeless steering of the GTI and handles better, it might be the pick of the bunch in that category.

YMMV.
I don't think anyone is bashing the Focus, it is a good car. I just think we all find it a bit ridiculous to even imply it's an M3 rival. Ah the joys of marketing, you can put anything in a commercial visually but unless you specifically state something, you aren't liable for actually lying about your product. Good times...

At first I thought it was going to be one of those stupid commercials like was it the focus vs the lambo one? Some shit car vs lambo and shit car won because it was on a small circuit and won performance wise and the car could hold more stuff in trunk. Then I saw the dollar signs and thought rofl good job ford.

I said oh my god they are not going to have a vs m3 and have the m3 get passed are they?? And nope, they didn't. But the $$$ signs zinging out the back were quite hilarious.

I liked the commercial. Made me laugh. The new focus' are pretty sweet.

If it had RWD, it wouldn't need Torque Steer Compensation.

M3 a supercar? I think not.

The new Focus is a sweet little car, but of the three hatches in that commercial, I would still take the WRX to have the AWD.

A 328 is actually not a contender to this in terms of performance.

The new F30 328 is a different story but the e90 is just out performed by this turbo ford
yup.. cause i compared it to my 328. Not everyone buys a car to "blow doors off"... I was talking about the hatchback market. The STI is awd and doesnt need much to be a rally car. This ST would not be used against that. They would have to bring over the Focus RS or convert the drivetrain and up the boost. and $25k for a focus seems a bit steep.

that's what i was thinking. if im buying a ford for $30k well ummm there's this thing called a mustang gt and it is pretty cool for $30k instead of a st. on a side note anyone realize the HUGE grammar error in the commercial? "what makes an st an st?" hahahha i'm not a grammar nazi but that's is just basic elementary grammar rules. i only bring it up since it's a commercial coming from a company like ford.

IMHO, for that price they should have brought over the RS, otherwise why not just get a WRX? It has more power and AWD for the same price...

Im going to make this very simple, Before I bought my e92 2 weeks ago i went and test drove a 2012 Shelby gt500, it was a beast, fast, loud, it was amazing. The reason I walked away was it was still a cheap POS for an interior, I felt like i was driving a v6 convertable rental car from hertz cheap plastic everywhere. If I walked from a shelby what makes ford think in there right might i would consider a focus lmao. There trying to target the wrong group with the m3 in the commercial, because anyone that can afford an m3 will get one and not consider a focus

Good commercial and a great car IMO. If my commute gets longer (likely) in the near future, I will get one as a DD.

Um, dude... BMW did it. The F30 offers a variable steering ratio as part of the dynamic handling package.

Also +1. This point was a double-edged sword; Ford basically admitted that they need a system to keep the car's natural tendency toward torque-steer in check.

So let me get this right... you feel manly for passing a car that Ford themselves admit isn't a competitor?
