Individual Audio has to be on the option list. Would be total crap if they didn't offer it.

Has anyone actually heard it? It's based on the DIRAC system out of Sweden. Huge amount of digital signal processing, Class D amplifiers, etc. Logic 7 is purist compared to this. Not sure I want that much signal manipulation. I'm also not that impressed with the design of the speakers. Neodymium magnets won't improve performance, just reduce weight. Hexacone material is ok, but sounds no better than well designed paper or metal cones. The devil's always in the details, and all this high tech may or may not be better.

DSP is a huge part of reproducing sound when we are talking about it coming from CDs or MP3. You want no DSP when the source is encoded with HD audio or enhanced sound, i.e DVD-audio, SACD, DD or DTS encoded. Thereby letting the pure signal pass through the processing unit of the audio system and delivered to the ears without interruption or additions. I also find it highly odd you think well designed paper cones are sufficient. And let me try to comprehend that you are dogging on Class D amplifiers... Do you know the benefits of such amplifiers?

The DSP you are describing is basically addressed by Logic 7; i.e., generating 5.2 surround from 2-channel sources. That has nothing to do with DIRAC which uses DSP to address the loudspeaker system in the car environment. From their product description: "Digital frequency and transient correction of sound systems. With Dirac Live™ you will not only reduce unwanted room-acoustics to a minimum. These high-resolution time- and frequency domain filters also compensate for imperfections in the physical layout of the loudspeaker system. The result is a substantially improved musical staging, clarity, and precision not just in a small sweetspot but in the entire listening volume. On top of this, you can easily apply your own branded sound identity to all of your sound systems." Quote:

Here the 6FL option is $400, cable included. Thru Military Sales is $350.00, cable not included. Simple. I also bought a BMW thru Military Sales, when it was combined with European Delivery right there in Germany. So I know a thing or two of what I'm talking about. |

We would need to wait for BMWNA to see how they are going to price the Extended Leather in the M3, as it will come here with Cloth/Leather seats standard. And they will offer Leather and Extended Lether options from base... Quote:
Unless this is an upgrade only for the M3, I doubt it. I do think either that Logic 7 will be standard or that price is made up. In the other hand, the Individual Audio (Enhanced) in the M5 is a $700 option, however Logic 7 is standard. |

Correction: HiFi system (10 speakers) is standard, Enhanced (16 speakers, Individual Audio) is optional: http://www.bimmerfest.com/pdf/2008-B...ring-Guide.pdf
Good news: for upgrading with aftermarket, the HiFi is perfect. Bad news: forget about Enhanced at $700, that's just impossible in BMW terms... |

Verified with my dealer as well, the premium sound is the individual sound.
In the brochure he linked to, it states the 10-speaker system is standard. Same thing as in the M5 and the upgrade there is $700. It's obviously reasonable to expect the same dollar amount for the M3.
