Not having any experience with such "deals", nor done the least bit of research on them... I don't understand the 10k/yr bit... since the average a car is driven per year is more like 15k/yr. What is one supposed to do with that ?

I think overall its a good deal. The sticker on the cars is around 68-70k. Which usually would mean about 1k a month. Plus this is the deal they are offering on brand new cars seeing how the economy is and it's the end of the year I am 100 percent sure anybody who walks in there can talk their way into an even better deal. That's my opinion....

I dunno, call me crazy, but shelling out over $30,000, only to end up with nothing after 36 months doesn't make good financial sense to me.

You have to put this in perspective. Sounds like your income level does not allows you to drive an M3. But a lot of people here make enough money to have the disposable income to do so.
Is this a good deal? Maybe, maybe not. But there is a lot of people are paying that much and some more for just a 335i (Check the for sale forum). So, in perspective, the same payment for a M3 is a pretty good deal. |

no, that's a bad financial decision too :-) but chances are it will be worth quite a bit more than 20k in 36 months tho, so you will be much better off. FWIW, 3 year old 325i's are worth more than 20k. |

Fact is very few automobiles are ever "good financial sense." Most driving enthusiasts do not purchase their vehicles of choice based upon financial sense. It is an emotional decision based upon their love of driving. At least for me it is. Some people love golf. Some people travel. Some people like me buy cars...and love every minute of it. I have had over 21 cars and am only 29. I own my own house, have a loving family and a great job that I absolutely love. I also having a very understanding wife that knows that BMWs are my passion and always will be...as long as BMW continues to build such fine driving machines. I will continue to buy (lease) new cars each year and drive the heck out of them and in the end...to me...it was money well spent.

My 2007 530i, which stickered for $60k, is only worth $31k (according to BMWFS) 21 months after I leased it. I'm glad I leased. The residual in my contract is $44k.

Not sure about KIA resale value but if he wants to go two doors further to the Honda folks
My 3+ years Honda got sold for more than 80% of its purchase price after 3+ years and close to 50000 miles. Now compare this to the residual and market values quoted by nasa I leased my first BMW this summer and I am glad I didn't buy it despite the 0.9% financing. God only knows how much it will be worth at the end of the contract but I think it's very likely it will be LESS than the residual value listed. |

Exactly the reason to lease... take the risk out of it. If the car is worth the residual and you like it and want to keep it, then buy it. Otherwise, walk away and get something new that you want. I got stuck too many times with my wife's cars being upside down on loans...

Just curious. What was the residual listed in your lease contract?

Learning how to drive a stick is easy. Just buy a workhose, and practice on it. I sold a Mustang GT convert to a guy that didn't know how to drive stick. I spent 1/2 an hour selling him the car. I spent 2 hours teaching how to drive a stick. He lived in Palmdale. So he had a good hour drive. I made sure to call the next day and find out if him and his wife were ok. His wife was astatic. But practice practice practice.
By the way, what is MSRP and selling price? |

got something similar this weekend. $730/mo w premium, tech, sunroom, i drive, manual on 10K mi/yr. initially i thought this was a great deal. for those who don't think this is a great deal, how much are the going lease rates for this? i was going to order an 09 e90 dct so my wife can drive it, but it was over 1K/mo so to me it wasn't worth it.
