body shop and non dealer mechanic

I have seen some OLD posts about both body shops and mechanics in the Manhattan area. I have a 2010 E93 that I need a front end noise checked out on. I want to go to a mechanic other than a dealer, that really knows BMW and not a general mechanic. I also had someone back onto my hood when car was parked causing some hood damage. I want to get it repaired at a reputable BMW collision shop other than dealer. Any help greatly appreciated. Have had work done on a previous BMW I owned and had orange peal paint, paint color off, blending color off, etc. Looking for a great job as I am a fanatic with this car. Also, what is, if there is a BMW "authorized" as opposed to "Certified" as opposed to just a place that does great work? Is there even any difference at all? Thanks very much in advance for help.
