Thinking of widening a rear set of 10" wide ZCP wheels
by 1" on the inner rim, how would this affect offset?
Dave

There is nothing wrong with widening wheels as long as its done properly. I have had a set of wheels that I tracked with that was widened as do alot of other people with no issues.
Now can someone give me an answer to the original question...where's Malek? Dave

Hey guys i figured since you are on the topic.
They are oem 19x10 comp wheels with 1 in added after i got them back more like 1in 1/4. Rears have 12mm spacer with 295-30-19. Fronts are stock rear comp wheels 19x10 with stock 265-35-19. I currently have 275-30 19 in transit for the fronts to even it out. sorry for the crappy pics. I took them in the garage while the hurricane was going on, As you can see in the pic the wheels where done so well they only needed that one little weight to balance the wheel.

Thanks big guy...who did the wheels? Weldcraft? They did mine on a 98 Mustang Cobra I owned. Malek turned me on to someone more local, its just that Weldcraft has been doing this for years. I will be going down the same road or a set of Forgestar F14s in 19x10 and 19x11. Any idea in how much weight it added? Also no rubbing even with the 12mm spacer and 295's?? Dave

If you add 1" to the inside edge (inner "barrel") of the ZCP 10" wide rear wheel, you'd change the wheel from a 10" ET25 to an 11" ET38 (actually 37.7).

Some just looks for ways to have a wheel fail.. This is analogous to cutting springs for lower ride height..unsafe imo. Buying a properly made correct sized wheel is clearly the better option

Haven't done it yet...not that Im worried about failing its just I may want a lighter wheel. I'm probably leaning toward a set of Forgestars in 19X10 ET25 and 19X11 ET33s. With Mich PSS in 275/30/19 and 295/30/10 the weight won't be that far off the OEM ZCP wheels and tires but with 30mm more width per tire.
Its just that I love the look of the OEM ZCP wheel. Dave

Offset is the distance from the center of the wheel to the mounting face.
Widen the wheel = you are relocating the center of the wheel to a new position = its distance to the mounting face changes = you are changing offset. You'll end up with a 19x11 ET37.5ish. In any case measure and make sure you have have an extra 1in/25mm to spare on the inside. Maybe a little more to take into account the tire. And since the wheel is somewhat sunken into the fender (outer clearance doesn't change) you might want to run a spacer to bring it out and gain clearance on the inside. |

gosh....not to be a downer here, but that looks like structural failure waiting to happen. Seems kinda dangerous to have welds consistently bearing rotational loads.
