SIB 28 01 10 - Please Help

Hey guys,

I have a 2009 M3 with a September 2008 build date. I took my car into the dealer today and showed them a printout of SIB 28 01 10 (see attached). My SA looked up my car in his system and said it didn't quality and also told me that they only do this update if a customer complains about the issue. I was hoping they would perform this "service action" and in the process I would get the latest firmware to hopefully solve some issues I am having with the transmission.

I was under the impression that all vehicles with DCT transmissions produced between 1/08 - 8/10 require this update. I have also read that once the car was brought in for service this update was mandatory and they wouldn't let you leave the dealership without having it done. But my SA said it would only be done if the customer compained.

Could anyone please clarify? My car is at the dealer right now, hopefully I can figure this out and get them to update my car.

Thank you,

To BMW NA? Am I correct that my car should most definitely be eligible for this update since the build date falls into the range? I wonder if I can call BMW NA and ask?

My SA said it only applies if a customer complains but the way I read it and everything I've read on the forums says it is absolutely mandatory. He doesn't seem to have any idea whats going on.

According to the attached PDF the dealership is supposed to perform the update the next time you bring in your car. Your car falls into the time frame so it should be taken care of.

+1 tell your SA you want to speak with the service manager and/or the shop foreman.
