Anyone know what the fattest tires for the front and rears can be put on? Particularly the rears, because I would like to get something thicker than 265's on the rears.

in my opinion m3's look better with something like 285's in the rear. just wondering if the rear fenders are similar in size to the e46 m3. the new e92's fenders are way more subtle so it's hard to tell.

I run 295s (rear) on mine. No reason the new M should not be able to take 295s either.

You don't want to be too wide on your fronts or you will plow through turns. 245 up front max.

Is there a a performance gain with wider tires? I assume the wider the tire, the better the ability for the car to put the power to the ground, but I'll guess there is some negative connotation to handling and track performance if you go too wide.
I too like the look of wide tires in the rear but don't want to compromise perfomance.

Did you mean oversteer in stead of plow? Plow = understeer. All other things being equal increasing the front tire width increases its front grip which will lessen understeer if present or worsen oversteer if present. BMWs (and almost all production cars) are factory tuned to understeer as it is by far the safest negative handling set up. Sporty cars are factory tuned for understeer but typically for mild understeer. Increasing the width of the fronts a bit more than increasing the rears will help balance the car more toward neutral. But this is really best for very experienced drivers. Increasing the fronts too much can cause the steering feel and weight to worsen. The 265s on the rear are under-tiring the car for its power for sure. I bet you could fit 305s on the rear.

I'm sure that enigma or e36jakeo would have some good specific recommendations for tire sizes to properly balance feel, looks and performance. Until you have actually given it a try though, everyone will have to guess to some extent.

im planning to buy 19x10 275/30/19 for the rear 245/30/19 for the front... will this fit my 328i coupe 07 or x3 06' with sport package?

On my E46 I ran 285/30-18 front and rear for the track and autocross. Stuck with stock for the street.

On a stock setup you really can not use wide/low profile front tires. The car needs more static camber and/or more roll stifness before I would start putting wide fronts on.

I'll start asking the 335 guys what they use. But really we won't know until someone gets a car and starts to measure parts.
