I'm all for a well done replica part!! I don't see any reason to spend $1600 on a part that will meet some debris on the freeway, and ultimately be useless to me. It is far easier for me to part with a $300 lip than it is to part with a lip that costs double what my ///M3 payment is. I plan on painting the lip anyway, so I'd rather not opt for carbon fiber. As long as fitment is good, I'll opt for a replica lip made of another material.

When it comes to wheels, however, I'll stick with OEM, Klassen or BBS.

Speedtrap,

The replica looks well constructed, and would be worth saving a few hundred dollars. That company did a good job.

There are others but they also charge more that twice than Vorsteiner. No matter what, I think Vorsteiner is the best option at the moment with the best looks, fitment and quality for the money. I though of Ericsson (I know its a full bumper) but it 6k or 2k FPR, AC SCHNITZER is about 2k-3k just diffuser/lip, most of the others are just plastic. You get what you pay for. I know modding gets addictive but those who have leases shouldn't cuz no matter what, sooner of later you will lose money, unless money its not a problem, but then again, if money wasnt an issue, this thread wounld exist. But at the same time I agree that Vorteiner and other companies should consider making products of different materials to address the needs of different people ex. someone might just want to paint it, so CF is not nessesary. Ofcourse if they want CF they wont be able to get cheap CF unless they want bubbles too. I cant imagine going somewhere and having bubbles in CF parts on a 70k-80k car

^^ good luck with that. you bust one, 3 more will sprout up overnight. by no means am i siding with the replica vendor, but it's just the nature of the beast unfortunately. i can attest to vorsteiner quality, i have the full CF diffuser, it fit like a glove and has held up to tremendous amounts of heat. buying replicas on ebay can be shady at best...caveat emptor is what i always tell anyone!

You are very quick to address the emergence of replicas to your parts (as you should be) but you are slightly slower on the draw when it comes to the concerns of your customer base which eventually lead to the creation of a market for such replicas.

I put it to you again:

Why the markup between 335 and M3 aero parts of identical construction and fitment?

I haven't gotten one constructive response from you guys yet in this thread. Will you produce less expensive lips made from cheaper materials? Or just bang others over the head for producing products we want? YOU SIR, FAIL.

There are a lot more 335s than there are M3s. When you can sell a lot more of a product, it will more easily offset the initial production costs. A good example is my NSX, the production run was extremely low. So things like aftermarket headlamp kits are very rare and expensive. Or even the OEM headlamp costs over $2000 as opposed to a more complex headlamp assembly for any other Honda or Acura which is just in the hundreds. We've been trying to get someone make a better tail lamp assembly but no one will touch it because the small market for the product will force them to sell the lamps at a prohibitive cost due to the high costs of initiating production.

AHH now I know why their parts are so expensive. They have a team of attorneys on salary.

Don't really see how you're gonna be able to nail any replica vendor on anything here. But, whats also funny is that it took me to bring it to your attention. Talk about poor PR.

If I were you, to satisfy the many consumers on this board, I would have maybe offered a group buy, or something else besides these measures you've taken. I'm not saying you're in the wrong, but you've really left a bad taste in my mouth. Not to mention that this statement about your lawyers is almost laughable.

You wont see a dime from me unless you get your priorities straight.

Vorsteiner is having this same problem with a replica of their e92 bootlid spoiler. They are trying to stop production of the product when the vendor is in a country like taiwan, that might not have copyright laws. The confusing part is that Vorsteiner got its claim to fame by making replica CSL parts (10% differnece from OEM parts because of materials and construction). The only way that these vendors in taiwan can make successful replicas is if they make small changes in the design or production of the parts. Sure, replicas would bring Vorsteiners prices, and exclusivity down, but that is how many aftermarket companies are started and how theyre is innovation in these products. It is said that these replica spoliers have better fitment than the authentic Vorsteiner ones. I'm not siding with the replica vendors, and love the Vorsteiners products, but some enthusiasts want a nice part, but cannot afford the price of Vorsteiner products. I hope this problem gets sorted out soon.
