I've got the Hankook Ventus Evo's on my 997S and they are absolutely fantastic. Got the entire set for $700 shipped. No bullsh!t here -- they are 99% the tire of the PS2's that are on my stock wheels but a good bit QUIETER. I wouldn't doubt for a second of getting them again.

So where do we buy the Vredesteins?

I can tell you that the Dunlops are very good in the wet.

Will the Vreds in the 255 and 275 size fit on the OEM 19" rims without a problem? Also, have you have any issues with DSC/ABS with a different size configuration? Thanks

Guys, would 275 front and 295 rear give the same OEM handling characteristics but with more grip?

So far, after about 500 miles on the hankooks, I find them quieter and softer riding. Hard to say if there is more traction, my PS2s turned to wood once they hit the wearbars. The most serious downside IMO is the slightly reduced responsiveness, likely a trade-off of the softer ride. Unacceptable on this car. Last edited by jml; 12-13-2009 at 02:06 PM.. |

I have to get tires and that's a good point I didn't consider, should I STAY with the PS2's because of my drop, they fit perfectly.

Ok so I'm new to this, so where are you guys buying these tires from? I don't think I'm the only one who wants to know.
So far the 4 I see mentioned (below) I cannot find on Tirerack.com, Discounttires.com, nor Big O Tires. Now granted I'm searching by vehicle so maybe this is the problem but I need them to fit my oem 19" wheels. I dunno but I was curious since no one said where they got any of these. 1) Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta 2) Advan AD08 (Yokohama's right?) 3) Hankook Ventus Evo's 4) Dunlop Star Spec I'd really love to see some pics of someones M3 with the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's on it. I think these are what I'm leaning towards. so if I get the rears with 275 instead of oem 265, is that going to make the sidewalls "bluge" out more than the OEM Michelins? Right now with Michelins if you look at them from the front or back, the side wall is pretty much straight up and down (from top of rim to top of tire). is 275 going to make that more rounded out or will it still maintain that straight sidewal profile?

I also want quieter and longer-lasting tires, but want exactly OEM 19" sizes, and can't find any (the rears are especially hard to find). And same with a step below summer max performance, which is overkill for my kind of driving. Will keep looking while finishing off the PS2s.

I replaced PS2s with Goodyear F1 Assymetricos on my 335, at Tire Rack's recommendation, and I've been happy with them. 90% of the performance for 70% of the cost. Like OP, I live in the flat Midwest where canyon-carving is just the stuff of dreams. I have another set of rims/tires for the track, where ultimate handling behavior and traction really matter.

I will as soon as my RACs arrive! Right now, they're stacked in the garage awaiting the arrival of the new wheels.

I pretty sure I'll be geting the Vred's, though I notice it's hard to fine places that sell them. Anyone used "Group A Wheels" before? I see they sell the Vred's and they have a shop in the Phoenix area, where I'll be moving to soon. If I order tires online, how much do places usually charge to install them? I'm kind of new to this all, I usually just by the cheap stuff at the dealer and have them install it, but that was when I had cheap cars.

Update on the Hankooks. Pretty much terrible in cold rain, to the point I wouldn't send my wife out in the car. Dammit. C&D must have been sent some Korean concubines for that tire shootout.

Here's my theory: You should know that almost everything involving cars and korean companies (hyundai, hankook for example) are pretty much copies of Japanese companies who generally copy German companies. Take the Genesis for example. Looks like an LS430 which takes a lot of cues from the E65 7 series and MB S class, bangle butt included. In this copy of a copy formula, something is lost in the translation of the translation...hence the poor handling in cold, wet conditions. Even the new Kia Forte (small hatch in Korea) looks really close to a Honda Civic.
