Pre-owned Bentley Continental GT
Has anyone considered a pre-owned Bentley Continental GT? Or have any experience with them (maintenance costs, frequency of maintenance, etc.)?
http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...26129366&Log=0 I was looking at some cars and found some pre-owned Bentley's to be in a reasonable price range.

Funny, was just looking at one with like 50k miles for under $60k. Talk about depreciation. I'm sure parts will annihilate you though.

my dad had to have his battery changed.......it costs $2000 at an indy.
there are 2 batterys and alot of labor to get to one of them. that, and that alone is enough of a reason to not get it in my opinion. |

Not the only "pain in the ass" car maintenance wise. It's my understanding that the new Porsche (991) 911 has to have the rear bumper removed to change the air filters. IMO, that will always be costly for such a simple item. It's also a slight deterrent and/or turn off to acquiring a truly marvelous vehicle.

Absolutely terrible car to own preowned. I had one for about a year and between common stuff that brakes (power windows) and maint I probably spent ~$15k that year. Just stupid problems and any minor thing is a couple grand. Only get one if its in warranty and relatively new. There is a very good reason they fall sooo hard in price.

it's funny how you say "common stuff that breaks", b/c for most cars, i don't expect my power windows to ever break...this isn't 1991 power window engineering here...lol |

The newer bentleys such as the continental GT and flying spur definitely aren't as bad maintenance wise as older bentleys. However, parts are expensive and relatively minor jobs could accumulate in cost quickly. My father has a '06 Arnage that we got pre-owned with only 12K miles; overall not bad so far on maintenance but we've had to replace a window regulator which was a $1000 job alone. I know about 7 or 8 people who daily drive their continental gt's and flying spurs and haven't had too many problems so far. When maintenance is needed though, be ready because parts are not cheap. As for the power windows, it's a common problem from what i've seen.

Lmao common for the Bentley I meant
To the guy above me itching to drive one...take it for a spin...you'll honestly appreciate your M3 even more! Especially if it isn't modded. Mine was tuned with a custom Tubi exhaust ($12k+) etc and a stock M3 is more fun to drive IMO. No comparison with my FI m3. It was a perfect car for the South Florida / Miami days as it was definitely boss down there . I had my previous '08 M3 at the time as well. I just saw the newest body style on the road today and sooo gorgeous. Honestly I could see myself picking one up in a few years when I'm hitched and want a nice lux car to travel in. I would make sure it wasn't more than a year or two old, super low miles and under warranty. Apparently the new V8 is better although that bi turbo W12 sure had its own personality. Quote:

Still a damn fine looking vehicle...despite the outragous maintenance costs...I'll just dream about that though...I'll stick with my fully warranteed, no cost maintenance M3.
