I know it's all speculation right now, but I'm guessing the M3 will start at $59-$61, and then low $70's optioned out.
BMW stated they want the new M3 to be more exclusive, ie: more expensive. Although they also said they wanted it more raw than the E46, but carbon fiber roofs and 50+lbs electronic seats dont scream raw to me. So, who knows.. but high 50's low 60's is my guess for the base. |

even if 1series comes with the N52 engine (with 3 stage intake) in the US 1er it will still be quick. With the N54B30! WOW! lookout! As far as price points go I have to agree with the idea that it will start some where just above where a fully loaded 335 will end. Last edited by smellthebeans; 06-17-2007 at 10:24 PM.. |

You've got to be out of your mind. a e92 335i vert starts at 49,100 and a fully loaded 335i vert is a bit over 60k. I am going to geuss the m3 will start about 63-64 which would be about 48% price difference from the 335i. the m3 will not be cheap and will be near 911 terratory and will NOT BE close to the m5 territory(in terms of price). off topic- when did anyone ever buy the m5 or m6 for their performance? its too heavy to be a performer and too ugly to be called an exotic. its a waste of money. the m3 on the other hand give your more performance per buck. its lighter, more nimble, and much more attractive.
But, weighing all odds, i would NEVER get a m3 if it exceeds 60k range. A BMW will need much more time and experience to build a performance car worth 60k+. I'd rather give my business to Porsche. Anyways back to the op- I really wished you would have recorded the drive to see just how well the bmw handles. It sure sounds like you had a good drive.

I can't imagine that an M3 is going to cost 20-30k more than the E92.
There's no way that it's worth THAT much of a premium. I'd be willing to bet that it's around $65k for a nicely kitted example. |

bmw's product line is getting crowded and with the 1 series will only make it even more crowded...but that aside...i cant see the m3 costing that much...what is the separation between the m3 and m5 at this point? not that much money.

Let me throw my guess into the pot and I will say base MSRP is $54,995 plus shipping.
The crazy thing is if you go to BMW's Germany site it has the car listed under car configurator and pricing is there for that market.

It's my personal belief that everyone who wants an M3, *really* wants an M1. I'm sorry, but at 3500lbs with a V8, the new M3 is a pig these days. Not to mention the extreme price factor. We can thank the competition and general demand for the fact that the 3 series has just gotten huger and fatter and more expensive over the years. I'm just glad BMW is bringing some purity back to its name with its (hopefully) close to 3000lb 1 series.

I was going up Malibu Cyn Rd made a left on Mulhullond and there it was just getting to the light, so i flipped a bitch where it was the stupidest move ive ever done without crashing but sure enough i was right, there was the new M3 in front of me for like 1 hr, this car has more performance than any 53k car so there is no way it will sell for under 58K!!!! quote me on that.

It was stripped down to go beneath the radar, so not much aesthetically to look at besides the mirrors that are like WHOA. and the vents in the side, he had a sunroof so no carbon fiber otherwise i would really feel like an idiot forgetting my cell. And of course the quads, man it sounded like no other out the box as this one did in person He is a good driver had great lines and never pushed it to make the tires squeal at all, i think cause he didn't know the rads and was going to fast to use the nav!

jj if it was your pops, he'd opt get the cayman s if it was anywhere close to 50 haha.. If you were opting to get a porsche and its not a cayenne or a 911 turbo, you usually dont pack the cars with alot of options. its quite popular to add in heated seats, xenon, and bose but a lot of Porsche buyers love their cars more bare bones when they are looking at the cayman/s boxster/s and 911/c4. Also if you've ever tried buying a Porsche, you will know that you can get quite a discount on these cars. If you deal right, you can get anywhere from 10-15% off the cars sticker which would make a regular 911 a potential threat to the m3 msrp.
