Unable to order Euro Bumper!?

I tried to order a Euro front bumper cover for an '08 M3 through Russel BMW today, and they called back after attempting to order it to say that BMW is restricting sales of (certain)European parts and do not intend to make the cover available for sale in this market. In order to buy the cover, you must first provide a Euro VIN, and corresponding proof of vehicle ownership (as with coded keys).

Part # is 51 11 8 043 958 ('08 M3 with h/l wash; w/o pdc).


Anyone have any info on how to get around this???

Yeah...sucks. Was no problem on the E46. Maybe they got ragged on by NHTSA. Only way around it, AFAIK, is to order from another country (Canada has same, though) or do the fill-in.

Order it from Simon@Rennspec, that's what I just did. Great service, and it's coming air-shipped in a few weeks. I also got it pre-painted from BMW.

Thanks. Had a good email communication with him, but I can't justify the price for that right now. If my OEM cover gets damaged, that's definitely what I'll do.

What is the difference between a Euro bumper and the bumpers in US spec M3s? Pardon my ignorance ay... Is my bumper as per attached a Euro bumper?

Do you have a price from rennspec? I've tried like 4 or 5 different sources (Bavarian Auto, VOB BMW, reputable BMW shop) w/ the same answer of NOT AVAILABLE.

I'm curious to see how rennspec is able to get around the regulation and frankly I find it hard to believe....

It's very easy, they are not a BMW dealer that has to deal with regulations. They are simply importing a car part into the USA. Just like you could do personally if you knew someone in Europe willing to help you out

$700 primered, $1,300 prepainted, plus over $600 air freight. Close to $2k is not justifieable for me just to get rid of the reflectors. If my bumper cover gets damaged, then I'll go for it.

I paid just over $300 for my primered E46 one 5 years or so ago. Of course that was through the dealer, and before the dollar tanked against the Euro.

I've PM'ed Simon but if those are the prices its a no-go for me. I had heard the euro bumper will run about $650 primered and delivered. We'll see.
