Smoked my friends IS350...
We did two runs from 0 - 80-90 mph.
I pulled about 3-4 car lenghts on him every time. I find the 335i pretty had to launch due to the tire spin. So much torque! Need more practice....

Well, both a stock 335i and stock IS350 run very similar 1/4 mi. times and trap speeds, so it would be a drivers race between the stock cars.

I just had a run in with an IS350. We were side by side at a red light. On green we both take off moderately and then punch it at the same time. First gear was pretty close - me by a nose. Then I completely missed 2nd gear - arrrgh! When I finally got it into 2nd he had jumped out by about 2 cars. By the time I was half way through 3rd my nose was back in front. I then let out because there was a car in my lane, but I think he got the idea. Missing a gear usually means game over, but I reeled him in rather quickly. I thought I was toast and was amazed that I could even make a race of it much less catch and pass him. My only mod is the PROcede - I think it is a very close race between the two without it. If I hadn't blown 2nd, I would have eaten him!

...and that was in your stock 335i; imagine a PROcede 335i vs. stock IS350.

Heres a comparaison test done by edmunds http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=120903
Bmw 335i (sedan) 0 - 30 (sec): 1.8 0 - 45 (sec): 3.2 0 - 60 (sec): 4.9 0 - 75 (sec): 7.2 1/4 Mile (sec @ mph): 13.4 @ 103.9 Lexus IS350 0 - 30 (sec): 2 0 - 45 (sec): 3.4 0 - 60 (sec): 5.2 0 - 75 (sec): 7.7 1/4 Mile (sec @ mph): 13.8 @ 101.2 I think that gives a good idea and it reflects what you guys said, the 335 is a bit faster! |

Thanks for the info... So if you were 3-4 car lengths each time you ran against your friend, yes, the 335i is a bit faster, but I think you are a better driver than your friend

If we were to race to the 1/4 mile, I would have had 5-6 car lengths on him, which is a lot. I have a Procede on order....so will see how he does against the Procede too.

Believe it or not, it's not that lopsided at a drag strip stock vs. stock. When I say STOCK, I mean STOCK. No weight reduction, no turbo tuner, no drag radials, no tire pressure lowering, automatic vs. automatic. 1/2 tank vs. 1/2 gas. I'm going to venture and say I bet it's too close too call. I'm a relative noob when it comes to drag racing - 3x in 2 years and I still pull a 13.444 last weekend fully stock intake, exhaust, no weight reduction (in fact, additional junk in the car!). Admittedly, I had good running weather but a steptronic 335i coupe only mustered a 13.8xx on his first run before I left. I had a much better launch than him... or maybe our stock 4.3 rear end and short first gear helps us launch better stock vs. stock... Dynos also don't tell too much. My IS350 dynoed 230 at a dyno dynamics and 259 with a dynojet. Oh, and I don't baby my car like most guys on car forum do. I haven't yet changed my air filter after 23,000 miles... maybe I should try that before I go to the strip next time.
