why, why. why.... Civics with a fart can wanna race?

just a rant! on my way home and this civic with a fart can wanted to race? im located in Toronto, but i was in the Scarborough area earlier. why must they do this? i dont care how fast your EK is, it's still not an M3

I know the exact feeling. When I was 6 years old I would have to sit in the back seat with my little sister. She would keep looking at me, and I would yell out "MOM, HOLLEE KEEPS LOOKING AT ME!" My mom would only get upset with me and she would ask me " why does that bother you"? I never had an answer. My dad had a different approach for when my sister would look at me. He would say "DO YOU WANT ME TO PULL THE CAR OVER?" Sometimes he didn't ask me, he just pulled over.

I guess in retrospect it was a pretty stupid thing to get upset about.

lol, i get these ricers a lot ard by me... i am sometimes coming home from a club and stop by a local deli for some food and everytime there is a honda meet with like 30 of these ugly cars... every single one wants revs their engine to want to race. if i am bored i actually accept and beat them one by one

I happen to like the sound of some Civics with a nice exhaust. It's aggressive and muscular, but sounds a little too fast for the car.

There are some nicely tuned Hondas out there for sure... unfortunately most that you'd see on the street aren't.

i agree, but the area i was in those people think by adding an exhaust and intake makes their car super fast.

on another note my 92 integra (aka cr-vtec) was just as fast as my M, so i dont doubt it

This is one of the reasons I got rid of my Evo last week. Tired of the attention it gets... I realize I'll still get this attention with an M, BUT chicks know what a BMW is, they don't care how much power my Mitsubishi was putting to all 4 wheels.

With a nice turbo kit, a Civic can spank an M3. It is pretty amusing for the driver of the less expensive car to spank the fancy car. I can do this with my 500+ rwhp E36M3. You can tell yourself that you don't care because you have a more expensive car, but the Civic driver is the one smiling all the way home and you are the one that just got spanked by a Civic. Have respect for people who build cars, not just those with lots of money who buy cars that are fast to start with.

I guarantee you that there are many, many, many very nicely tuned Civics that will blow the doors off an M3. It is a pleasing thing to many hard core modders to build their otherwise lesser car to the level of outperforming an expensive benchmark car like an M3. Don't assume that you will beat them all

We all know regular ass cars can beat higher end cars with enough mods, but there's more to owning a car than performance. I'd take an M over a 4, 5, 6, 700hp civic or equivalent anyday.

Back on topic... There is a certain way to show appreciation for a nice car or wanting to see a bit of it's performance without revving him out at a red light or trying to race him at first sight on a freeway.

I have to disagree...

The difference between the performance of a 150hp Civic and a 414hp M3 is MUCH bigger than between a Lambo (say a Gallardo) and an M3.

Is the M3 as capable, no way, but is a hell of a lot closer in performance. Hell, the M3 today is comparable in performance to Lambo's and Ferraris from just a few generations ago.

Also, where were are people calling an M3 a true sports car in this thread?

I know most if not all would disagree, but it just seems people who drive an M3 think it's the best out there, the guy in the 150hp civic worked just as hard for his car as we all have, looking down on him for trying to race a faster/expensive just doesn't seem appropriate, just my opinion

I look down on them as I would a dude with a popped collar spilling his Rockstar energy drinks on everybody as he tries to show off the crip walk he learned while vacationing with his parents in Nantucket.... Yes, the same level as a douche.

What's wrong with saying, "Nice car man, show me what it's got?" Or a head nod, or wave, or thumbs up, or some kind of gesture signaling 'wanna race?' I hardly ever street race but I'm more likely to oblige the guy who acknowledges me and sees if I'm even interested in a street race over the dumb ass who weaves in and out of traffic to get near me and bounces his engine off the limiter for a mile down the road. The same would go for if the douche was driving a damn Ferrari wanting to race me.
