Tire wear after 6 Track days and ~5k miles
Worst of all, Driver Front:
To me it shows obvious over inflation.... Most likely from Big Willow at 100 degree heat... I've done Big Willow 3 times on these tires, Streets of Willow twice on these tires (Once CW other time CCW). And also once at Button Willow CW. Passenger side Front Passenger side Front again: Then the rears Rears don't seem too bad Alignment is -1.6 R -1.1 F. Toe I don't recall. These are the stock CS3s. I have RS3s in my storage waiting to be mounted...I Just need to get wheels first........ I wonder if I can run these tires on the track at least 1 more time.... Street they're fine (I drive speed limit on the street, more or less. Don't corner hard. Won't be raining here for a while. I also take the Z4 out more than the M3 so it sits more than it's driven excluding to and from a couple places) I'm thinking of swapping the Driver side with the Passenger side (front) if the next track day is CW. if it's CCW, then it's fine...I mean, not to break any lap times or anything like that, but to have fun (main reason, well actually, only reason really I go) at the track.

You should measure your tread depth, if you're at least 4/32 you might be okay for another track day or two depending on how you drive. Some of the chunking you are seeing is due (this is what I've been told) to not allowing the tires to heat up uniformly before they get pushed hard on the track. This causes rubber at different temps relative to the rubber beneath it to chunk off.
I would guess your tires are probably going to be good for another day, they look ugly but track tires never look good. I have a set of Hankook Evo that look not much better and are going to the track one more time. |

I give them time to warm up (2 laps?) but I will admit I haven't been checking the pressures as much as I should I started doing it after what happened to the PSSs the last time at Big Willow. So my first 4 track days....I didn't check much, nor did I really give them appropriate time to warm up . What can I say, those were my first couple of days ever on a track. But I was doing it religiously Sunday at Streets. When I mount my RS3s, I'll be much more careful.

I agree they're probably ok for another track day. Ugly for sure, but nothing there really jumps out as a cause to say scrap them.

Looks to me that they're getting over-inflated as they heat up. You need to either start with a lower cold psi or drop some air after they've heated. For six track days they actually look pretty good.

Do you guys think these would pass for a lease return???
I know it's 2.5 years away, but hey it doesn't hurt to plan ahead lol Or at least would the rears pass? I have a set of CS3s for the front with 8/32 Thread that I can use if need be..but if these would work, hell yeah haha

Last weekend I put them at 30 cold but the stupid TPMS warning came up, so I raised it to 32 Cold. Came in after (2 warm up, 3 hard) 5 laps and they were 40 Hot. Dropped down to 38 (hot) Went back out (maybe 3 more laps? don't remember), and after my cool down lap (so total of 4 laps or so), the temps were around 38 So I guess that means that at 32 cold, it goes up to 40 hot? Meaning next time, 30 sold is better? (and to just ignore the annoying TPMS warning). This is all for my CS3s When I mount the RS3s, I won't have TPMS. Also, I'll be having a Dinan stg 1 with camber plates installed soon. Front camber will be maxed out, my guess is around -2.2 Toe will be 0 Rear I'll do -1.7 (or maybe just keep the -1.6 i have now?) and have total toe be 2

Sorry I should have been more clear:
If these can pass inspection as is, I'll have them removed now and just mount new tires on them. Otherwise, if they won't pass, I'll just burn them to the ground and then buy new tires lol

Tires like that may open up a lot of questions about the condition of the car that you may not want to hear when you turn it in......

i doubt it will pass lease return. just burn them to the ground by running them again at the track. the dealerships are pretty picky when it comes to lease return. think about it -- no 2nd hand car buyer would buy a car with tires that are chunking like that.

But I do get LOTs of understeer in my car, that much I know. Surprisingly, the couple of times I've driven someone else's car, I don't feel the same understeer. The temps on sunday were 105-110, but it came down to 95-100
