Oil level fluctuations?

For the past few week the oil level in my 08 E92 showed I was above the "OK" line. The actual level was probably at the 25% mark. Now, it's closer to 70-75% mark. I certainly didn't add any oil. Should I be concerned about the accuracy? In both cases, I'm above the OK mark, but I can't explain why it shows "more" oil than before...

Funny! I just had the same exact thing happen to me! My 08 M3 was reading in the half way mark then all of the sudden I noticed it reads full...I didn't put any oil in mine either! I know my cars will burn about a quart of oil every 8k miles so not worried about losing oil but I need to know if the oil level sensor has gone bad. I'll keep searching other threads as I see no one has responded to this one yet

I just posted on a similar thread. Try this out and take it from there, I am in no way an expert on this but I had a similar issue. GL!

Nope. Mine is pretty steady at about the 30% mark now. I've had the car a year and have driven maybe 8K miles

Mine does that sometimes so I only take its value when its on a long cruise or consistently telling me the same thing more than 2-3 times. Then I'll regard the reading as true.

But it could be a faulty sensor though :P
