Glove box handle always locked 08 e93

All

My glovebox only opens if I use the key. The handle remains lock all the time whether I run the lock Tumblr either way it simply brings in the lock mechanism but will not allow me to unlock the handle any thoughts ???

Mine does the same... It's a convertible security measure??? Always need the key to open it even when you leave the top down and the doors are open to keep the pests that want your stuff...

might be an e93 thing. might be an easy swap of the locking mechanism. i know for a fact my e92 doesn't do this.

The actuator of the lock might turned bad or the connecter is loosed.

I had the same problem while the mechanic forget to connect the glove box actuator after battery cable recall. I had to get back to dealership the another day asking them to fix their shit work.

My E93 is always locked. My E92 is not.
I think it's pretty cool that the gas door and center console arm rest locks with the car also. But that's probably on any/every vehicle today.

I learn something here every day. Realized right away when I got the car that the glove box always locks. Found out after a 2 min panic at a gas station that the gas cap locks with the car. But now you're saying the center console locks too and I can stop moving crap from there to the glove box each time I want to leave the top down?

Yep, absolutely, I locked it one day with the top down and reached in to open the glove box and it was locked. Believe it or not the driver & passenger doors lock along with the trunk when you hit the lock button on the fob

E93 glove box latches are electronic and open electronically via solenoid when the glove box 'lever' is pulled to open. The lever activates a micro switch for the door release solenoid. The keyed lock is simply a block to prevent the lever from moving and activating the microswitch. The keyless entry function integrates with the solenoid. If the doors are locked, you cannot open the glove box without a key. The owners manual describes its complete operation.

E90/E92 glove boxes are completely mechanical, and will open at any time if the lever is pulled (unless it is key locked)

Worn struts???

All

2008 e93 new Michelin tires wheels true and road forced just last week wheel shimmy for first half mile in morning assuming tires just need to be worked on cold morning a but when I pull in my garage and hit bump sheering wheel turns either way. Thinking it can be worn struts cause wheel turn. I also heard that if struts are bad it can amplify the road forces and in turn resonate to the wheel. Any thoughts?? No sounds in front end or bouncing all stiff but does feel like something is fatigued when hitting bridge transitions just doesn't feel as tight as it should 72k on car

My '08 E93 works like the OP's and the glovebox is locked 100% of the time. It sure doesn't feel like there are any solenoids in the mix. My E70's glovebox had electronics involved and you could definitely tell.
