Recommended brake pads for light track/street use
G'day all,
Iam looking to do some track days in the near future and are looking for recommendations for new multipurpose brake pads that will work on the street as well. Currently have a bone stock setup. Ones that minimise brake dust would be an added bonus. Any recommended places that stock them would be handy too. Thanks in advance |

I put on steel brake lines, replaced fluid with motul 600 and the pads with hawk hp+
Made a massive difference over stock setup. The stock rotors are very good, and swapping the pads improves fade and bite at the track. I bleed the lines occasionally too. I'm running ferodo ds2500 and hawk hp+ combo at moment. Also, the hawks squeal a bit |

I ran RS29 on my 996 turbo as a daily drive and they were fine. They only squeaked when the wheels got really dusty. They pulled up fine from cold, hence my recommendation.

I had researched this a few months ago, and the stop tech street sports pads were highly recommended as a budget option (they are around $200) whereas the pagids are at least twice to three times that price.
By memory all stop tech bbk's come fitted with the street sport pads also... I got told to stay away from the hawks as they are quite noisy, but having said that I was more for a setup that was street > track... |

The lines are suppose to help with flex and brake fade when the system gets hot. Not sure how necessary they are though. I think all the pads, lines, fluid flush and install was under $600 for memory. The hawk hp plus are noisy, especially when new. I was swapping the OEM pads back after track days, but became lazy and left track pads in when I was at the track regularly. I will probably swap them back soon. |
