snow tire?

i trade in my e92 328i xdrive for a new e92 m3, and thats my only car in US, and winter is coming, i know im gonna get trouble in snow days, im thinking to get snow tires, could anyone give me some advise what snow tire i should get? also, i heard theres no 19" snow tires, so i also need to buy some cheap rims for winter, i want to know what size of tire i should get, wide or thin? and is snow tire can help me a lot? or i should just get another shitty AWD car which i dont like to.

btw. im in columbus ohio, huge snow here in winter time.

There are 19" snow tire options. Most people buy a 2nd set of wheels for their snows so that they don't have to pay for mounting and balancing two x's per year. When you get rid of the car you sell the 2nd set of wheels and you usually end up ahead. Many people would say that 18" snow tires / wheels are better (taller side wall providing more pothole protection and I think a more flexible tire provides better traction). Narrower is better too. I personally didn't want to put narrow tires on cheesy, cheap winter wheels. My thinking is why own an M3 and make it look like crap in the winter. I use OEM 18" M3 wheels with snow tires in the stock sizes. Go to tire rack.com (link in upper right corner of this page) to see snow tire size options.

I have survived three MN winters with my M3. It's great in the snow with snow tires until it gets deep. You are done once you start becoming a snow plow. I hope this helps.

I too am in Columbus and just bought an E92 M3 yesterday. It will also be my daily driver all year round so I will be getting a second set of wheels and snow tires. Having only had RWD sports cars - I think this one too will be fine in the snow with good blizzaks. My only concern is the risk of getting high sided in deep snow (i have the lower suspension of the comp package). But those days are infrequent and I'll borrow my wife's SUV if needed. In terms of wheels, I'm looking at either a set of take-off OEM 18"s or maybe looking at some of the cheap imitation wheels on **********s.com. The seem to have an amazing selection of nice looking (but probably heavy and cheap build quality) $200 or below wheels in our sizes. Anyone use any of these?

I'd spend a little more $ and get a set of 18" VMR's for snows.
