"Sport" exhaust options: $1500 or less?

I would like to get an Eis or Gintani sport however just can't see spending more than $1500 for a muffler. I keep looking in the private sale section, but its hard to find these for an E90 M3.

I've been searching quite a bit, any suggestions? This isnt easy, since I'm picking an exhaust from youtube videos.

I want something louder than stock, but not obnoxious or super loud. F1 over American V8. Trying to keep with the character of the car too.

I would pick the performance exhaust, but $4k for a muffler, come on...

Gintani is close to your budget, why not go for that?

I hear ya man, I just don't understand how people can drop $3,500 on mufflers. I bought a big turbo, front mount intercooler and turbo back exhaust on my STi for that kind of money.

I'm thinking about trying the modified exhaust approach and seeing how i like it.

If you are patient, you will see E90 exhausts show up in the classifieds and some good ones in that price range. Or just follow KitW around till he decides he needs a change...

get an Akra or Gintani from the used section...be patient.

when done, just resell it and you will make most of your money back! If you search, you will see, for example, Akra slip-ons going for $2800 or so used...pick one up used and resell it in a couple of years for $2500 or so and you will be fine, or buy a new one (you can get them for $3200 if you shop around) and sell it for the market value (~ $2800 give or take), and again be out just $400 or whatever.

you will lose the same depreciation with less "popular" ones, like Corsa or Remus, etc, so in reality you will be out the same money if not more when all said and done.

as I always tell my kids, Don't be penny wise Dollar Stupid...

Time value of money comes into play. Putting up $3,000+ in hopes that in two years the kool-aid will still taste sweet and you can resell for $2,500 is a little risky IMO.

yes, I've been considering that one however I'm concerned its going to be too loud.

How ballpark to have an exhaust mounted? I might go for the Gintani Race if its not too expensive. In the past I would head to a decent muffler shop for ~$80 (one hour of labor). Not sure if this is the case with the M3 or not...

1500 exhaust budget for new setup is not going to give you good option.
you'll spend money to regret sooner or later.
waiting for good used one for 1500-2000, would be the best option.

Best bang for the buck has to be modded OEM muffler which sounds decent...or Megan Racing for 600.00(deep sound but drones abit)...then next best choice is Corsa which sounds high pitched and exotic and with very little drone.

The rest drone quite abit or are quite loud such as AE, Gintani, RPI.

And some look better with cans painted black...esp OEM and Corsa...and ask Elp, you can paint the cans black for 0.50 cents ....

The rest cost 3K plus....or you could wait for Eisenmann Sport used to come up for 1600.00

check out megan racing exhaust. They are pretty cheap, around 500 dollar for the muffler and they sound pretty decent.

I heard megan exhaust are made from the same factory as AP exhaust and they are pretty much the same exhaust system. Agency power are charging 1500 which is ridiculous.

I'm looking at a Gitani Race for sale used. I figure its ~$1200. If its too loud, I can always take it off and resell it for what I paid for it.

Right?
