It's not a dumb question, thanks for starting the thread.

I think:

1) it has to be, and will be faster - but not as fast as the M5. I agree with the previous post... about 450HP, 400 torque, redline maybe 7800. (I could get this out of my 335 now... reliably). With the larger intercooler, larger oil coolers and proper design, it won't overheat. They design the M3 to be a track car so I have full faith they can build the motor properly.
2) I hope it won't be bigger, it is big enough now - actually it is perfect size for me and is a perfect family vehicle too. A niche that others don't have.
3) I hope they fix the understeer - that all the magazines mention.
4) I hope they put bigger and better track brakes on it.
5) I hope they keep the cost the same - but I don't think that will happen.
6) I hope they don't make it any heavier - but I don't think that will happen.
7) I has to be faster around the ring.... every M3 is.... and it would be a huge fail if it wasn't.
8) Turbo lag is going to happen - there is no way around it. I hate this in my 335 and the delay when you put your foot down and want to accelerate out of a corner sucks... then you get a big rush of power that can't be controlled as well... that sucks too. The big rush of torque is good, but it comes at a cost.
9) It HAS to have better mileage. The M3 is a fuel pig. It won't be hard to get better mileage with the blown motor.
