Why increase the stagger if you don't have to? I don't see any reason not to run 255's in the front when switching to 275's in the rear.

Just playing it safe, some rub some don't! I was advised by the tech a discount to stick with 245, based on the wheels I'll be running.

I mean is it bad to increase the stagger?

The truth is that you won't notice the increased stagger in casual driving. More stagger results in more under steer when pushing the car to its limits. Wider tires also provide more grip which is generally a good thing.

The other aesthetic factors include the following:
-Difference in sidewall from front to rear is increased since you are increasing the rear size but not the front with the same aspect ratio (35).
-Wider tire would fill out the wheel arches better
-the wheels are 1" difference in width and the tires are 30mm difference. the front tire will be more stretched on the wheel than the rear. A 255 and a 275 would have a more consistent stretch. This isn't a big issue.

When you say the tire will be stretched on the front, how so? The wheels I plan on running are 19x8.5 front (same as stock setup 220m) and in the rear will be 19x10 (.5) more than stock wheel which is why I thought the PSS 275/35/19 would look nicer in back. I figured since they put a 30mm stagger on the M3 GTS why not? Must be something to it

I didn't realize that you were running 8.5's in the front. I assumed you went with 9" fronts. The 245mm tires will not look more stretched in your instance. I also dont think a 255 on an 8.5" wheel is best. A 245 is a better match for that wheel size.

Most people modifying the suspension and wheels/tires have a goal of reducing under steer on the M3 (or at least not making it worse). That's why i would recommend keeping the stagger 20mm or less. Again this is not something you will notice in casual driving. There are other ways to dial out under steer via the suspension. The GTS was designed around its tire sizes.

I have no actual experience fitting these, but Tim944s says 19x9 et20 works, so et18 might work since it's only 2mm away.

I am running the Bridgestone Potenza S04 Pole Position. Current fronts as noted above are TSW Nurburgring. Overall fitment is square side while with no cupping. I thought it may stick out too far but has had no issues thus far. i currently am running them for about 3000 km's. Again, stock ride height. I can post some picts if you'd like
