Battery Warrantied?

I am getting a battery voltage too low message sometime when I shut my car off. My car is still under the original warranty for another 8k miles and then my CPO kicks in. But my question is:

The car is an early 08 so the battery definitely should be replaced so does BMW replace the battery under warranty?

It depends. First they will do an energy diagnosis on the car which will take about two hours. It will show them how many short trips, medium trips, and long trips you have taken. If you have a very low amount of long trips, and high frequency of short ones, they will probably try and deny coverage. I had this issue and fought with them until they replaced the battery. Turned out to be the intelligent battery sensing cable so they replaced the battery first and the cable on the second visit. Since then it's been perfect. I would think that considering your car is an 08, you have a decent shot at getting it covered under warranty depending on what the energy diagnosis says. They replaced mine with a black 90AGM battery.

My driving requirements are almost all short trips. My '07 650 battery died in the spring of '10. Dealer changed it under warranty without comment.

this is a hit or miss. some dealers consider battery as a wear and tear item so they will usually deny warranty unless your car is less than 1 or 2 years old, in which case the battery should still be able to hold a good amount of charge with no problems so they'll have to replace it.

either way, ask your SA what he can do... batteries arent that expensive anyway. you can probably install a new one yourself if they wont cover it.

pads and rotors are wear and tear item also. these items are covered under maintenance agreement not warranty.

It is 100 percent covered. That is the entire point they advertise no maintence for 4 years/50k. However technically it is covered under the warranty and not the service. Either way its a no questions asked replacement.

Even if you left your lights on time after time. The battery should be able to be charged up and be fine. If its not than its something off with the battery. Every bmw I have had the battery lasted a solid 5 years with no special long drives.

Mike is correct, I had the same problem on the X6. First they did the energy test and gave me a FREE BMW battery charger. After another month I took it back in and they replaced the battery...

This is something I am hoping someone can answer. I was told the above statement is correct in the US but Canadian maintenance agreements do not cover rotors and pads. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks
