Usually you can reuse. Look for a cone shaped ring gasket stuck on either the header flange or the midpipe flange. If yours disintegrates, you have to get another from the dealer.

I had a pretty major exhaust leak due to this thing disintegrating away. My car was stuck in limp mode when it dropped below ~80F outside ambient temperature. It displayed all the normal signs for the Throttle Valve going out, with the car throwing 3500 RPM redline and DSC malfunction, ABS/SRS malfunction, all the fun codes associated with it. After fixing this piece, the car runs perfect again, and all the throttle valve codes were cleared and haven't come back yet. Sorry again to revive an older thread, however I feel that it is warranted to help share some knowledge. Signs that this piece is going bad: Exhaust smell (obviously), Starts sounding like a cammed out muscle car (kinda cool until you hear the vacuum of air rushing in ), when it's warm it will work fine, when it's cold outside (due to expansion and contraction of the metal respectively) it will act very similar to the throttle valve plague, however it will be noticeably more awkward to drive: namely because the leak will because extremely apparent, and the 4.0L NA V8 you paid for starts sounding like a 2.5L Boxer motor from a Subaru. Not my cup of tea, exactly. Again, sorry! And feel free to contact me anytime if there's any questions that y'all have or anything I can help resolve that could help you guys out. Thanks! --Ryan |
