I'm using a couple of different things. I got exhaust tape that is high heat that I'm going to use to further secure the exhaust bandage. I also got the stainless steel zipties that I'm going to use to secure the exhaust wrap with and the adheasive spray they suggest. As you can see from the pictures the right hand side is kind of difficult to access the lower perferated pipe but not impossible. I marked in red the areas I dremmeled so that you can see the cuts more easily. On the right side I made the opening smaller the the left after seeing that i really didn't need to make the whole so large. |

Nice to see other people experimenting with modding the stock system. Its a great way to go. A local SDPD officer who was parked in the shopping center where I was getting gas this last weekend heard me pull in and came all the way over to see what it was and talk to me about my car. Suffice to say, he was impressed when I told him the exhaust was stock, just slightly modified!!!!
Keep on modding boys!!!!!! Looking Good! |

I don't know the answer but I don't perceive any changes on my car. Only sound changes.

BTW if anyone wants to do this mod let me know (thats if your in SOCAL) ill post pics sometime tomorrow... The guy that did the mod for me did an excellent job so so good... and for the price cant beat it...
The guy is so anal that he wants everything perfect... also he mentioned that if you do the wrap in a long run (dont know how long) it might start to shred or clogged up the exhaust if you use the heat wrap so replacing it with the pipe is a must... |

I wish I had someone who could do this mod in the Northern NJ area with the price you guys mentioned. One shop asked for $500.00

Want to hear Sean05's car, with just welded pipes. It's going to sound pretty close, I guess. Wonder if somebody has done this about half way (blocking only half the welds). Also wonder how much the volume inside the cabin went up. Good day folks. |

i guess mine is almost the same sound but its really different sound in person than in video.. and in regards about rasp sound its not even close, i have no rasp on mine.. also the inside cabin i would say just a tad bit with no drone at all in any RPM... and if you decide to cover half of the pipe might as well do the other small pipes and cover it but i think its going to be just a waste of time since its not going to make a difference.. it really does not sound as good in video than in person... |

Volume inside the cabin with windows closed hasn't gone up by much - enough that you can hear the exhaust and that it sounds sportier than stock. Sounds sort of like the M3 GTS so I drive with the windows down whenever I can. |

In regards to the "rasp"... there is none whatsoever, as stated above and in all my posts, the volume inside the cabin is slightly elevated, not intrusive at all, and drone is simply not there.
I replaced the larger of the two perf sections on each side of the exhaust, and it suites my needs perfectly. I also replaced all that nasty crimped pipe that actually runs from the midpipe to the "suitcase" muffler so I am wondering if that did anything to change the tone. I completley finished my "customized" OEM system this last friday and it is 100% insane, details to come in a seperate thread. |
