Moonstone E90 M3 on order for ED delivery on Aug. 9th
I'm a current owner of a 2008 550i coming off lease in October. I've long wanted an M3, but need the sedan, and now I'm pulling the trigger.
I've leased my other 3 BMW's but this one I'm going to buy. This may be the last time, or at least the last time for awhile, where I can get an M3 sedan, normally aspirated V8, and perhaps even a 6MT (after seeing what BMW did initially with the E60 M5). I'll be picking up the car on August 9th in Munich. My first Euro Delivery and I'm very excited! I'm combining it with a second honeymoon of sorts: my wife and I just celebrated 12 years of marriage. An extra bonus: the 3 kids are staying home with the in-laws. Last but not least: I was able to get Moonstone for the paint. I'm taking somewhat of a risk as I haven't seen it in person, but the photos I've seen online have been phenomenal and I understand even they don't show the true colors of this paint. As I live in the US I had understood getting the Individual paint may have been an issue, but my dealer came through. That's it for now... A quick note to introduce myself and more to come later. Many thanks for everyone on this forum. I check it out several times a day and the posts have been very helpful! |

Congrats and welcome!
I almost went with Moonstone for my new car as well but it would have delayed my delivery by a few weeks and it wasnt worth it to me. I would ask for some moonstone paint whilst at the welt as individual colours are notorious for being very difficult to colour match (stone chips etc) |

Congrats, the M3 is one helluva car.
I myself am coming of a 2008 550i, I love the car, it's great in many regards, but I need the pure rawness of the M3.

Congratulations! You'll have a blast with the M3 in Europe, I know I did.
Which dealer did you go with? Seems like you're local around DC, I'll definitely want to see your car when it gets back.

Well Melbourne Red looks like a dull and muddy orangey red in some pictures but it is actually a very nice red in real life. Moonstone is no different, it looks flat and dull in some pictures but let me assure you it is beautiful in real life...... it is many colors in one....... It all depends on the lighting!

I'd love to see photos of your combination--Moonstone/Amarone/Piano Black--when you take delivery!

Crunge, you'll enjoy Moonstone when you see it in the metal. I too ordered that color sight unseen (based only on posts here) and don't regret it a minute. While it has a blue cast in certain light, like the posts here, more often I notice a champagne cast. And yes, in cloudy or low-light conditions, it resembles primer (or Audi TT's Nimbus Gray). I went tone-on-tone: extended Novillo Silver and brushed aluminum.
