My close friend has these on his E46 M3. It was one of the best mods he did. If you're a track junky, or just have your M slammed on coil-overs...these will come in handy...big time. Basically helps dial out toe, so you don't wear the inside of your rear tires so fast.

Please tell us how your friend put toe control arms on an e46. They are unique to the e9x cars. Rear toe doesn't change significantly on an e46 from lowering due to the trailing arm design. The e9x cars have a 5th link to manage the toe curve during suspension loading. The toe curve goes out of whack when the car is lowered.

Maybe he meant control arms, not toe control arms, something like these?

My bad, and you're absolutely correct Radiation Joe. I'm not as familiar with the e46 suspension design. I confused the e9X toe control arms with the e36/46 adjustable rear control arms. Thanks for the correction.

Ahhh. The infamous "crybaby" arms. I had Turner arms with noisy rod ends. I thought about replacing them with the crybaby arms which never make noise.

None of those arms make a very significant difference with the e46. Replacing the rubber trailing arm bushings with spherical bearings was a very good mod, though.

Have a look at these beauties we made for the 135/335i using oem sealed bearings, these should outlast the car!

Will this improve the handling combined with a low drop from coilovers? Or does this only help tire wear? Would the front need new toe arms?

If the rear has too much toe, it could create an undesired ammount of understeer.

The front does not need those arms, toe is adjusted from the tie-rods.

Also, under heavier loads, OEM arms will deflect more (bushings), causing variations in toe (equals lame handling and unpredictable toe changes at bad times!).

I had to get RTC arms on the GT3 as after the ride height was adjusted, corner balanced, and aligned how I wanted it, I could not get the rear toe where I wanted it. Thus, I had to get a set so I had the adjustability. After that, the rear felt rock solid under heavy cornering loads. A definate fringe benefit! Before, with OEM RTC arms, the rear felt a little skiddish at the limit.

If you guys track, I would recommend these. RE makes some kick ass products.

OEM M3 toe links actually uses a seal bearing with minimum movement. Aftermarket rod-ends don't usually stay quiet and are more likely to have a shorter service life.
